Hi all.... not been on in a while, couple quick questions if you'd be so kind. I am sure that these have been covered within the 214 pages but I dont have it in me to trawl back through :-)

My tyres are just about due, i'm used to having company cars and taking to ATS with no need to make any choice - are you guys using black circles or similar? Or shopping around locally?

Also, no service light yet (am at 9000 miles) - Audi say i'm due an oil service, quoted me £210... that sound about right?

Thanks in advance!

Service shouldn't be needed until the car tells you I don't think? They maybe think it's on fixed service?

Tyres I got cheaper locally than black circles.

Indeed for me I am just going by what the computer says I haven’t heard anything to the contrary. I’ve done 8k. I also got the top up oil ready when it tells me to add a litre Castrol 5w 30 pro.
Ie this (what does your computer say)

I'm on 281 days/1700 miles for oil, 397 days/5100 miles for inspection and the car had 13949 miles on and is 11 months into the contract. So I will probably need an oil change just after a year old but will probably get the inspection done too so it won't need to go to the dealer again (except if it needs warranty work) until after it goes back.

Thanks for all the replies guys - am away for weekend but will check the on board computer when I get home. It speaks volumes that I didnt even check that before posting on here :-l

Found tyres for about £150 a piece (dunlop), that sound about right in the experience of those who've changed already?

Well this has certainly been a lot of fun. So easy to use the app to switch between the boost levels and different maps.

Still a lot to learn and it will take me a while to find the perfect setting for me.

Feels rapid so far!

Bear in mind It does take time to settle down. Start mid range, then build up after a few days on each setting.

Hi guys. Just another point on oil and servicing. Got a letter to say vechicle is taxed. They also mention to avoid 400 quid fine make sure you service car. Do I just need to be compliant with the computer recommendations? Or is there fixed mileage etc. Can’t find much info on this. Thx

Ha Ha, I had one of those letters today as well. Routine stuff from VW/Audi trying to teach you to suck eggs as usual.

Just go off what the car tells you. And you do need to get it done at a dealer (in case that was the next question), whilst they cannot make you do it at a dealer to honour warranty (say if you had bought the car), it's their car so they can tell you where to get it serviced.

Sorry Tom, your wrong there. You can have it serviced wherever you like as long they are an authorised VW/Audi workshop. This issue has been legally tried and tested before.

Thanks guys. Computer says yes smile
Just got my insurance sorted was with elephant. 650 last year wanted 1200 this year! Called to cancel and dropped 20%. Get this though. Got a quote from LV, came to approx 850, specified car has AED (autonomous breaking) and voila 580! Along with dash cam and parking sensors. I also add the legal cover and enhanced medical payout. Can’t help it lol

Admiral did similar to me. Renewal quote (including Octavia Vrs) of £1300, from last years £800 or so. Went to Aviva in the end, who quoted a like for like policy of £560!!! Added some extras bringing it to nearer £650 for the two cars.

Some confusion, possibly? Having it serviced outside the dealer network won't void the manufacturer warranty as long as OEM parts are fitted and correct procedures followed.

BUT, leasing company can put whatever terms they like on the lease, and main dealer servicing is almost ALWAYS required - because a 2 year old car without main dealer history is worth less than one with.

Basically, check your lease agreement very, very carefully!

Same story with me and Elephant/Admiral on my S5 just last month. Been with them 6 years, no changes but renewal was 70% higher than last year!! Mad. Switched to Aviva and they beat my quote from last year. Bye bye Elephant!!

The leasing company may stipulate (or prefer) in their T&C's that the car must be serviced by a 'main dealer', but this cannot be enforced under European competition law. As long as you have the service done and book stamped by an authorised garage at the correct intervals, there is nothing they can do about it, or even penalise you for doing so but as long as;

They have used genuine parts
The correct specified oil/lubricants
Submit a digital or written record of the service done
