The leasing company may stipulate (or prefer) in their T&C's that the car must be serviced by a 'main dealer', but this cannot be enforced under European competition law.
I can't see that EU Block Exemption Rules (which I assume is what you're thinking) are going to apply here. You're not the owner of the vehicle. You've freely entered into a contract with specific requirements on your part. VWFS agreements seem to all require main dealer servicing.

Happy to stand corrected if you can find anything that contradicts this...

Exactly. I am quite aware of them not being able to make you get a car serviced at the dealers for warranty purposes. But the fact they own the car changes the dynamic somewhat. I know if I hired my car out to somebody I'd want it doing at a dealer.

My lease is with VWFS. I checked with them about this BEFORE the paperwork was originally signed, and they confirmed that under the EU directive they cannot insist you, or penalise you for servicing outside of a dealership as long as the criteria mentioned before is met, but they were very reluctant to admit to this. This I also remember has also popped up on one of those online ask a lawyer sites, and they confirmed same. As always though, confirm with VWFS for yourself before doing so.

Ah right, maybe they can't then. Anyway I won't be risking it!

Get the best quote for servicing from an authorised independent, then ask the dealership to match it by a telephone call to the service department as they normally will do this. That way you will get a dealership service at a REASONABLE price, and not the ridiculous price they try to get away with. This is why I asked them when I originally leased the S5, and so they could not say that any other quote was invalid to obtain a price match. I have done this with MB (the worst offender) and Jaguar Landrover. Some services were at a dealership, and some were not (when the price could not be matched). Both were returned at lease end with no issues at all.

Listen carefully... It's the sound of both humble pie and my hat being eaten!

Excellent call for getting that in writing.

No worries, this is why these threads exist. We all share a common interest on here.

I'm mostly impressed how you managed to get a quote for oil and service for so cheap.

My local audi estimated around 550 for the inspection service last time I checked.

Wonder if I get some quotes if they would match.

All Audi dealers seem to vary in price...why, who knows?

They will do there best to price match, but on experience it depends on how much work they have on.

My coupe is in the workshop, developed a horrible noise in the last week, AA matey said he reckons either a bearing or maybe tyre feathering (which i'd never heard of)....

My Audi dealership said it might be a 2 week wait, just had my courtesy car delivered - Merc S350 AMG - not my cup of tea, a lot of car admittedly. Surprised theyve put me in a Merc tho!

A chap i work with has an Audi A6, it went in for warranty work and they gave him a Jag XE. I thought that was strange.

Well this has certainly been a lot of fun. So easy to use the app to switch between the boost levels and different maps.

Still a lot to learn and it will take me a while to find the perfect setting for me.

Feels rapid so far!
How are you getting on with the dtuk box?

Loving it so far. I didn't expect it to be so easy to switch between the maps via App. Still only tried a few settings and don't want to push too far. The community is great with a big group of b9 s5/4 dtuk users on a WhatsApp group meaning always somewhere to ask questions.

I really think this is how Audi should sell them out the factory! But then I suppose its getting close to rs5 speed

Im on the group and i like the fact Andrew from DTUK has had a few S4's to develop it on. Does it make much of a difference? Was it easy to fit?

Do you not have a box fitted yet?

Yes massive difference. Have it set to map 2 boost 1 and the car has become fun to drive again. (I had got a bit bored with it and stopped taking fun roads) it's a bit like having a new car again.

Fitting took me around 20 mins but next time I reckon I could do it in 10. I could whip it off in 5 minutes no bother.

A mate of mine (not on PH) who is selling his S5 coupe and is changing to a company provided Macan Turbo (nice!) and wants to sell the B9 S4/5 SENT TDI box he has installed (its about 9 months old). He wants £250 for it complete & in original box if anyone is interested.

Thats a bargain price! I've had one on my S5 since the first week I got it and its well worth the investment, plus you can always resell or reprogramme when you change cars. No issues in 4k miles so far
