Has anyone tried to get a formal 12 month extension as yet? I can request early Feb but gut feel says prices wont be in our favour.
I suspect Audi will want these cars back given they have barely any stock left and the S5/S4 is not yet back in production.
I rang up on the 1st October and was quoted the below:

6 months and 25k miles in total - £340+vat
12 months and 30k miles in total - £370+vat

Hey guys,

Just wanted to bring to your attention an issue I had on my S4 re: thermostat replacement. No warning signs, just one day started the car and the fan comes on high and runs constantly, the temp on the gauge is one notch higher than usual i.e. 100, auto stop/start fault flags up onto the screen and the amber emissions warning light is on.
I called Audi Assist, they got me a next day appointment at my local Audi garage and this is what they stated on the paperwork;

Carried out investigation into EML light on. Ran guided fault finder and found multiple faults stored with cooling system. Found relevant TPI instructing to replace thermostat. Replaced seals and thermostat, re assembled charged cooling system and bled. Tested ok.

I posted this up in the Audi-sport.net forum and there's been a couple of guys have the same issue in the last few weeks. Just a heads-up if you start to experience the same.

Cheers,
Rich

My S5 sportback has just had its first service. It managed to get up to 16,500 miles before requesting the service.
I booked in with my local main dealer, the price including a loan car for the day was £380.

The reason for posting this is that whilst they had the car apparently there had been a recall issued so they did whatever it needed. They didn't really explain what it was, something to do with the cameras and presence.

I've also gone through a set of tyres in that same mileage. I knew that the fronts were getting near to the ware bands, but had a slow puncture on the front passenger side so decide to swap them out before the worst of the winter arrives. The shocking part was that the inside edge of the front two tyres were worn right the way through to the canvas. Since then I have the tracking done and apparently it was only fractionally out.

Tther than that, the car is still fantastic, I'm really going to miss it when it goes back at the end of March. Struggling to find a replacement lease, nothing interesting even on the radar at the moment

There should be two service Campaigns at first oil service, mine is similar age and mileage:
90K9 which is a camera software update, and
70G6 for loose loudspeaker trim.

I have been really tempted to get one on a PCP but the fear it makes the house a target for thieves worries me. I live in a nice area, but it would be the nicest car on the road as neighbours are all old gits not interested in cars and I dont have a garage.

what spec did you go with?

Have to agree on the car will miss it on that note I will definitely do the 3 month extension at same price and get a quote for the 6/12 formal extension. Nothing comes near at the moment. (apart from an x6 deal I seen but what a different proposition)
Btw was that for oil service - did you get inspection too?

Can I ask how these proposed extension payments relate to your current monthlies?

I've just received my S5 formal 12 month extension quote from VWFS, and it's £430.00/month for 10k miles against my current payments of £450/month (I ticked over £3k in options to my SB when I ordered it ;-)

Cars due to go back end of April '19.

Based on the lack of decent exciting deals out there, the fact that the car seems to just be getting louder and quicker at 20k miles, and the monthlies will be less than current Im very tempted to keep it for another year..

Are the informal extensions just same monthlies, even if you got the contract modified mid term does anyone know? My monthlies are about £600 at the moment to save me paying £1300 in excess miles at the end but I don't want to keep paying that when I aren't catching miles up!

It's an odd one - I could have paid 12 months up front and reduced the monthly cost, but same overall cost.

Surely that wouldn't then benefit me in extending? It has to be a fresh assessment doesn't it?

I'd imagine it would be a fresh calculation, so mileage might make a difference, but options probably less so.

Interestingly, 2-year old sub-20K S5's seem to have sticker price of around £27K now, so the £430/month figure means you're paying around 19% of the car's 'value' for one extra year of use.

Correct - someone posted a good explanation of this in regards to extensions. For example someone who has paid more upfront who then has a lower monthly payment could receive an extension figure which is a lot more than their current monthly payment so it seems a 'bad deal' vs someone who paid less upfront and more per month could receive a figure which is less than their current monthly payment so that would seem a 'good deal' when in fact they have/will both pay the same amount amortised.

Hope that makes sense.

On informal, possibly. Formal 6 or 12 month, or reworking the miles mid term will involve an assessment based on ho much they want for the car for those extra miles/months.

Some people end up paying more pm when extending some pay less and this is mostly down to the initial payment.

Thanks all, confirmed my assumption they'd ignore the to date costs and just look at mileage.

As others have said there's little out there of value at the moment, so i might head for an extension from April next year and if something comes up in stock at a good price I can take it.

I found myself considering the Jag XF at a stupidly low price, but I just can't see it matching the does everything capability of the S5.

was mulling over the a6 deal on the lease thread, lovely looking especially inside.
but going from a lovely 3L twin turbo v6 to a oil burner - I can't do it smile
there's a TFSI v6 - if that's on offer I might be tempted but for now I want to keep the s5 depending on the quote of course.

I know I am being pedantic but the 3.0 in the S5 is single turbo, twin scroll. The 2.9 in the RS models is twin turbo.

Hello Everyone,

Its been a fair while since I posted here! Sorry for the Blatant Sales Pitch

Anyone want to buy a DTUK Box? its the newer Bluetooth model for the B9 S5/S4. You can set all the different modes and power on your phone. I tend to set it on a smoother setting and it still pulls amazing... so so much better than standard. Sort of made me fall in love with the car all over again.

Anyway, my car goes back in a month so the box has to go. Its a simple plug and play. Takes me about 10 minutes to put on and place wires in neatly and only 2 minutes to whip it off (like before its last service).

Never created any flags on car. Had it double checked by one of my mates at Audi and he could find no trace of it whatsoever.

Anyway... Cost me £650 9 months ago.

Boxed and ready to go £325 + postage. (Or if you fancy coming to me in Ayr Scotland then ill fit it for you!)

please pass this on to anyone else who is interested.
