stupid question but how does the hill assist work with an auto? can you leave the auto box in D and it simpy holds it? i have it in the R but with a manual and have found it useful but havent specced it on the S5 figuring id just hold the brake myself and slip into N
Exactly that. Literally just leave it in D and once you come to a stop, tap the brake again to activate the assist, then back on the accelerator when you are ready to go. I've just become really used to it as I have it on the Golf R and I don't mind paying £75 for it even though I feel it should be standard.
Thanks mate thought that was the case - wish i added it now. I ordered through V4B not direct through a dealer so not sure if i can add options and pay for them upfront. Another potential downside of not going direct! Ive asked the lease company so ill see what they say if not ill approach the supplying dealer and ask too. Would add the hill assist and possibly BnO sound if i can pay upfront.
Can I just double-check something with regards to this hill hold option? Surely the car is fitted with an automatic gearbox, not a double clutch and therefore as with all automatics they don't roll backwards on hills.

I ordered mine through Fleetsauce and asked if I was able to pay for the options upfront which they checked with the supplying dealer and agreed that it would be fine so fingers crossed you shouldn't have any issues.

Your right - I think the purpose would be to avoid sliding to neutral hodling the brake, re-engaging drive and releasing the brake to hit the accelerator. With hill hold you can use the brake to slow down then once stopped release the brake (hill hold kicks in and leave in drive) then touch accelerator to set off. For 70 quid it makes the dirving experience smoother but its by no means essential.

Liverpool Audi called Audi UK and they said week 47 so end of Nov then they would have an A5 but not necessarily an S5. Do Audi always open the order books when you cant see a car for months???
Ive watched the same dozen youtube clips about twenty time's each lol.
Ive been and sat in a new high spec a4 to get a sense of the interior and virtual dash in Liverpool Audi and seen a navarra blue S3 hatch in Warrington to see the colour. Mrs thinks im mad

Ye my other car is the latest a4 so the mmi and dash layout is all very similar but just wanted to try the s5 out ASAP. If anyone hears anything please let me know! Glasgow Audi said end of Nov for an a5 as well but no idea on the s5. Mine may end up being the first one I see!

These are some poor pictures I took of the LHD Audi S5 Coupe show car which is doing the rounds of various dealerships round the country. Colour is Navarra blue with Rotor Grey interior albeit I didn't take any interior shots as I wasn't that impressed with Rotor Grey and hence went Brilliant Black / Black contrast Silver stitching.

I went blue and black leather after hovering over rotar grey for ages. What did you think of it in the metal? the front end styling still has me on the fence a bit

When the original A5 came out in 2007 I had to have one I liked its looks so much. I was interested in buying the new one however when I saw it I was surprised at just how similar to the old one it looks particularly from the side view. The interior is an improvement but Rotor Grey is just dull and the black stitching provides no real contrast. I came away thinking that I wouldn't buy one but if a decent lease deal came up, which it duly did, I could definitely live with one with just a handful of options.

Great comments - my dad was the same he got one of the first 3.0 s lines in the country when the original was released. it was an ex demo car with 12k in options and two tone leather. It stopped people in their tracks. still think that original was the best shape
At least you liked it in the metal- good sign!!!

Thanks for the explanation. Sounds like a completely pointless extra to me, I've had quite a few automatic cars and never felt the need for something along those lines.
It sounds to me like a throwback from the DSG twin clutch gearbox which definitely rollback on hills, I've had a few of these as well and could definitely understand it being useful.

I'm really struggling with all of this chrome on the current range of Audis - although I'm sure I'll live with it I am trying to work out if there is anything that can be done with it. Quite like the look of the RS front grilles, but that doesn't seem to be one available for the new shape 2017 car yet and not sure if it would be a step in the right direction anyway. Seriously considering wrapping some of the chrome in gloss black.

This seems to be deliberate from Audi. Take for example the recent S3 facelift - they removed the optional black styling pack completely. Same for the new Audi A5 and A4. It seems they only want the black styling pack for the RS models to stop an S line looking like an RS.

I do think the black styling pack made things look better but am not totally against the chrome. I think colour choice dictates how the chrome looks. Black, red and white always looked better with the black pack but the chrom doesnt look to bad on the blue and grey.
Just my view.

Definately something you can wrap - a lot of people did this with the Golf R grille. Not sure how you would black out the chrome window surround.

I agree it does seem to be the way they're going the moment, the problem is to me the front grille of the S5 just looks like the front grille of and A5 or A4.
I spoken to a couple of companies now who tell me that it's relatively easy to wrap the chrome window surrounds exactly the same way as you do the front grille.
I've also spoken to a couple of people who tell me that you can physically spray them with a product called plasti-dip - not something that I fancy having a go at myself, but a friend of a friend with a body shop would easily be able to sort this out.

Getting a car de-chromed is very popular now and most places offer it. I wouldn't be keen on spraying it though IF its a lease car.

simonwhite2000, you were with me being one of the first to jump on the V4B 3+23 deal, have you heard anything back from them other than the initial sign of paperwork?

I'm reading this thread and talk of finance company's and Audi build dates, and I've heard nothing.

I'm not wanting it till the end of March anyway, but was just curious if you'd any more info through?

I just spoke to Tom at V4B then mate before seeing this!

My order was logged as soon as I sent the paperwork out. The Audi dealership will share order references early january (he did say he could get it now but they wont really start moving through the order stages till early Jan - it will just show as order with factory). I asked about the private plate process and if I could pay for options upfront with the dealer (you can).
Some leasing companies I have gone through give a bi-weekly update just reconfirming the build week etc but V4B dont seem to be that organised (neither were Fleet Prices I have dealt with).

I plan to call him back mid Dec and make sure everything is on track still and re-confirm the private plate process before delivery mid Feb. Also want to make sure the dealer is fully aware not to wash or clean the vehicle under any circumstances.

Cheers for the update, when I called him a month or so ago he confirmed everything was ok, but never really gave an idea or a timeline as to whats next.

Just need to sit back then, it's going to be a long winter!

I think I would go down the vinyl wrap route rather than spraying, but just to confirm that plasti-dip whilst being a spray is fully removable, when you want to remove it it's a matter of peeling it off as it's a rubberised paint. I've watched a handful of demonstration videos - actually looks like really clever stuff.
