Can take anywhere from days to weeks.

Take tracker with a pinch of salt. Mines still in transit apparently and I collected it 3 weeks ago biggrin

I was told by two dealers (Epsom & Coulsdan) that the VC was standard in the S4 and therefore didn't order it - I'll be disappointed if it's not.

Central Vehicle UK Leasing are doing the S4 Saloon for £283 p/m with a £3.6k deposit so just over £10k for two years. They also have the S4 Avant, but that comes in at £327 p/m (same deposit).

Mines currently being QC'd according to the tracker, but looking to hold off delivery as long as I can due to overlap with another lease.

Definitely not standard. It's a 250 quid option on S4 and I think 400 quid on A4.

Going to check the terms of the order as I might have to cancel which would be a shame.

If I do cancel would you or anyone else be interested in the S4 Avant? It's brilliant black with grey leather and std 19 inch alloys - extras include black styling (with gloss black mirrors), hill assist, piano black trim and manual side blinds. It was at the cheaper rate of £315.99

Deffo not standard. It's a £250.00 option...worth it though IMO.

I know there is a lot of leasing in this topic but what are the must have options, more so if purchasing.

I had a look at the configurator and very quickly added £7k of options !

If you are looking new, drive the deal and orange wheels will save you at least £6k (inquiry made with no options to obtain a price) which is about 13% saving on retail price

Some would say the diff is a must have, but its not viable on a lease IMO.

VC I would say is a must have since its only £250. Other than that I don't think there are any.

If I was buying I would have light and vision pack, sport diff, probably metallic/pearl paint and maybe B&O and flat bottomed wheel (in the case of the S5, as its standard on S4 now IIRC). My S5 only has the FB wheel and the VC.

Even when buying the options don't retain a lot of value so although buying a car with lots of options on makes more sense than leasing one, it doesn't necessarily make sense.

These are very well specced cars as standard so resist the temptation to go mad.

Some favour the Virtual Cockpit at £250 but for me its a distraction, plenty of functionality with the standard dials/screen.

Consider a long journey with the wife (or other) where you have the sat nav on the dash tablet only & they want to change the music, a setting or something......you then loose the map for a while. With VC you can have a nice LARGER clear map that you can zoom in and out of from the steering wheel right in front of you, and have whatever you want showing permanently on the dash tablet like your music playlist/jukebox. Got to be worth £250.00!

Hi, no, you still get the map in the cockpit display between the conventional dials if you want it, or whatever info you select to display. Like I say, some will want the ability to have the map across the whole VC, but for me just a distraction.

Fair enough, everyone to their own. I find the tablet far more distracting than the VC and the dial is a bit 'fiddly' whilst driving. If you have not seen it in operation, then worth a demo before you order as lots of people have regretted not having it. Also, the VC displays a few more gauges than standard. Good luck with the S4....awesome car whatever you choose.

Thanks for the replies.

I've been offered a 15.5% saving on a heavily spec'd (9.5k) car.

A base car has been offered at 16%.

Decent discounts however I've noticed the GFV increase by just £200 for a car with £9.5k options therefore it's very very expensive per month to add options to these.

Doing some maths I have £3.5k of options to play with to hit budget.

Adding...
Ibis white
comfort & sound pack
light & vision pack
19" wheel (£550)
black pack
privacy glass

Get's to a few hundred pounds over budget, ideally I would like to add the adaptive suspension at £900 also.

Anything not worth having above ?

Well, As it's the last day before the bank holiday and I seem to be one of the only people in my industry working today, so it's awfully quiet - I make that Insurance Quotes time for the incoming S4 saloon.
woohoo
Please proceed to the next post if that's not your bag, I will understand. But worth reading if you're with LV

Firstly those all important variables which has everybody in South London, Liverpool and Northern Ireland wondering what they ever did wrong to deserve their quotes.
Me and the OH, me with Class 1 business travel, 9 yrs NCD, 1 Non Fault claim last year. Good rural postcode. 15k a year total mileage, obviously marking me out as the fine upstanding and trustworthy citizen if you don't mind me saying so.

So I dialled the first freephone number I could find, buried deep in the policy literature, (does everyone do that?) to be serenaded with a list of prerecorded terms and conditions the length of which if told would not be believed.
A brief and pleasant exchange with the lady at the other end of the line, and she tells me that from the £400 I'm paying for the Leon FR - the extra six months until renewal would only be an extra £110 plus £25 admin fee. Estimating this at a total of £620 per year, I thanked her and said that If that was their best price, then I would be researching some more. On being informed that there was no negotiation on amendments, I thanked her for her time and told them I would be back in contact with her either way.

My fingers wandered away from the phone receiver and on to the keyboard. Through that medium I enlisted an enthusiastic troop of meerkats to do my bidding with as many of their contacts as they could in the time it takes a gold bar to go from one side of the screen to the other.
A mere moment later, they hand me a chart, informing me that LV will cover me for under £500 for the year, so the change of current policy quote was within striking distance of what they thought they could get away with.
However I will now also have to pay handsomely for every right foot induced grin for that year, so £100 a year is £100 a year and better off in my pocket.

I whipped out the trusty plastic rectangle of denial and paid the deposit (yeah, I know, who buys insurance on tick rolleyes) to immediately be told by the a pop-up on the screen that I am now insured from the delivery date on my new 5 door car.
:Yikes:
Do they know something about the saloon that I don't?
Is there some sort or weird tiny 5th door on one side for my new friends the meerkats to climb in and out of when I taxi them to the coronation street set?

And so my hands frantically pawed at the phone dial once more, hastily bashing at the digits until the soothing hold music steeled my concentration ready for the ensuing verbal grapple with whoever was brave enough to pick up.
A lovely female Dorset burr greeted me and I relayed my online dialogue with Alexand3r and co and that they knew it was a 4dr and they had relayed this information to you. A requote was hastily performed.
At first I was greeted with a quote of an extra £140 a year for my being minus one vehicular portal. I explained that I had told the furry ferreters of my car shape and door count, and that there must be a mistake on their part and what could they do?

I forwarded them the quote from the weaselesque website and they have now agreed to waive the extra cost, and said they will sort the paperwork. Bravo LV!

Apparently it's a glitch that the supervisor had seen before when they pull in quotes from aggregators, so any LV insured saloon drivers, it might be worth checking your policy.......

If you could PM me the full details of your deal that would be great. Looking for a S4 at the moment, and would be ready to take yours over if the figures suit.
