Just got a couple of questions for those that already have your S4's / had them for a while...
Now your cars are broken in a bit how are you finding the long term MPG? I've heard people say it improves as the car beds in...
Not expecting high mpg to be honest given the car but just interested to know how things are looking after putting in some miles on the car...
Any recommendations for iPad cradles/straps that fit ok to the super sports seats?
My S5 is averaging 28.5, 26 on a daily basis and 35 ish when motorwaying. Now your cars are broken in a bit how are you finding the long term MPG? I've heard people say it improves as the car beds in...

1,500 miles in.
Always driven in sports mode or with the paddles.

Surely that mileage would have impacted your allowance?
I would expect so (hence why I would have got it driven to me but each to their own)Just had an email to say my car will be delivered this Thursday a week early!
Can't wait and now I need to decided if I get Suntek protection film fitted to the whole front end, just the front bumper or the front number and the front 18inches of the bonnet and wings!
Have any of you had experience of Suntek or any other paint protection films?
Have any of you found that you are getting front end stone chips easily?
My B8 S4 has loads of small chips on the front bumper and I want to keep the B9 looking in tip top condition as it's brand new
Thanks
Mat

So a week since delivery, and 550 miles driving (Notts - Dorset and back accounting for most of that) a couple of washes, and about an hour and a half pressing buttons and looking at the manual, a few thoughts observations and maybe even a question.
First a gripe.
The 19" V spoke alloys that come as Standard on the MY18 are all Silver.
Nevertheless Audi thought it would be a good idea to diamond cut the flat faces on the front of the spokes. you can see the turning marks close up.
Thus giving the disadvantages of Diamond Cut wheels, whilst not being able to tell they are diamond cut unless you are about a foot away from the wheel. I'm scratching my head about why they would do this.
I've never had an auto before, other than speccing them for holiday/working away for a week rentals, so have only driven them LHD really. I think I'm still getting used to it, and have basically left it in 'E' mode for the week.
I've come from a 184 Tdi Leon, so it seems to hold on to the revs a bit more than I would have done in the manual diesel, even in miser mode but it's a petrol and so I guess I should expect that. I have also so far not managed to stomp on the brake pedal with my left foot when coming to a halt - althought I'm sure it's only a matter of time before I try and eject the OH through the windscreen....
Driving it is a pleasure, compared to what I've come from. I've not pushed it at all yet, but not having the front wheels scrabbling when pulling out of junctions, cornering so much flatter than the Leon (even though it was an FR with "sports" suspension) and it seems to ride just as well, despite coming from 45 profile 17" wheels - the rubber band tyres Have given it a prod on the right pedal a couple of times on motorway slip roads, and errr....yes, it does that OK. ) but I'm looking forward to the engine loosening up a bit and trying the other modes.
After the first hour of driving I had a sore arsecheek, but adjusted the driving position, and did the return trip with no issues. The massage seats and inflating bolsters are great, and I'm sure I will enjoy the heated seats in a couple of months time.
The infotainment/instrument display system is though, all over the place, and not that intuitive.
The VC is fine, but I haven't found out how to get a decent sized speedo up yet, if it's possible. ( Anyone?)
When I hired an A5 tdi in Denmark the choice was 2 small dials plus big centre display, ( same as the S) but the other alternative was two larger dials, with a small central display.
With the Big Rev counter with digital speedo in the centre my eyes have to search to "find" the speed still, it's not natural yet. Maybe it will come with time.
Even the "small dials" speedo with it's unmarked dial and digital readout is just about pointless. Might as well just had bigger digital numbers.
Have not gone as far as a simcard so far, so that side of things isn't sorted yet. Am I right in saying I need this to activate functions like Google Maps, sending maps to the car from the AUDI MMI app?
Finally, just got back from a quick nip to the shops without the missus, so tried dynamic mode. mmmmmm. sounding nice.....

Why then did you option a VC and not the standard cockpit?.....It's like buying a house without looking out of the windows, then deciding you don't like the view.First a gripe.

You just need to switch view. When on the car view (and stationary) hit the left shoulder button on the left side of the wheel and then scroll down to change view mode or whatever it says, select that and it will go back to the two dials with screen in the middle. Its how I have it on mine.First a gripe.

It's different on the S4 compared to the A4. Didn't realise this.
And your analogy is terrible
Not the best analogy I know, but you get my point. Did you not test drive an S4 or have a showroom VC demo, or just assume a A4 VC was the same? Having committed myself to the expense of an S5, I made dam sure I was 100% happy with it first, and the VC operation / functionality for me was an important aspect as opposed to choosing just a standard cockpit. The cost was not the issue, rather knowing that I would have to look at, and operate the thing for three years was. There are always minor little niggles that will appear afterwards for sure, but that is unavoidable with any car you buy.And your analogy is terrible

Never even saw one before ordering. Welcome to the world of cheap lease deals
This was the same price as a 320D....
Still only about 7 or 800 miles on it, but I'm still well impressed; love the VC, the sports seats, massage and heat on a drive back from work is spot on.
Sound is still ace, love chucking it in dynamic and having a play with the paddles, not that it's needed as it's a great gearbox when in auto.
Averaging around 25 upto 32 on a run, driving like miss daisy, obviously a lot less if I take it for a blast
Launch control is great, scared the st outta the Mrs not something you use everyday, but a fun gimmick.
Overall, best all round car I've owned
