Model year changes around July. If you dig more, there's a chance you will find exact build week and what changes will go live.

With regard to the MY18/19 cars, where do I dig around to find out about the changes/differences? Website? press articles? I'm leasing through a broker, so have no direct Dealer contact.

Also there's a special offer on the website for a PCP. It's only about 7k more upfront than a lease with slightly higher payments and you have to pay road tax too.....smile

Cheers. Wondered if audi beam was the trick matrix headlights until I looked it up. Disappointed doesn't cover it.

I went through exactly the same wish-full thinking and then disappointment when i found out it was not the matrix headlights!

Audi car Configurator is now updated with the new MY spec on the S4.

It starts off looking like the same but once I clicked on it showed the car with 19" wheels etc

It looks like this may be a case of giving with one hand and taking away with the other. The now standard 19inch alloys were a £250 option in MY17, however the cost of the other optional alloys has not changed. The piano black trim which was previously a no cost option is now £200, you do however get the flat bottomed wheel which I believe was £100.
I thought but cannot be sure that the Audi connect was originally free for 36 months, but now you only get 3 months complimentary.

But the S5 goes up by £600 odd and gets some cheesy lights on the doors. So the S4 is the winner there!

Just seen the new pricelist on the Audi site, showing the new standard wheel. I've heard of "stretched" tyres, but ....???

In case it's of interest Milltek appear to have finished their S4/S5 exhaust. Not sure I like it. Seems a bit too gruff and shouty.

Thats the non res one though. I had the resonated one on my previous S4 and found it too tame (then again I do also have a non catted Cerbera ears )

I personally think the stock one is just fine. Plenty angry enough for me and I've had a C63 before!

Always worry with their straight through systems that once the novelty has worn off the drone becomes infuriating.

I agree that the B8 resonated system was too tame so hopefully this will strike a better balance between noise and civility.

If you have a look at this thread on the Q5 owners forum, in post 5 someone has posted a summary of various models with their MY18 spec changes, including the S4.

http://www.myaudiq5.com/index.php/topic/35577-pote...

Note the removal of headlamp washers. This used to be a legal requirement for cars with Xenon lights, but appears not to be the case anymore?

S4s are now on LEDs. Whether you have the standard ones, or the fancy optional Matrix ones.

So not only have I got to fold my own mirrors, I now have to wipe my own headlights! Oh the shame......

Yeah anything from S line up are on LED (and have been since the B9 came out IIRC). Seems like an odd omission though.

Anyway I have looked up the legal regs for this since I have easy access to them.

UNECE Reg 48.06 which is the latest regulation for light installation states:

"Dipped-beam headlamps with a light source or LED module( s) producing the principal dipped beam and having a total objective luminous flux which exceeds 2,000 lumens shall only be installed in conjunction with the installation of headlamp cleaning device( s) according to Regulation No. 45"

So its possible that the LED dipped beam is weaker than the Xenons in terms output from the "bulb". Don't Xenons drop the beam for dipped rather than swap bulb? i.e they just point the main beam downwards or have a shutter over them so the bulb itself could be far brighter than the LED even though a lot of the energy is wasted. I'm sure my B9 S5 has headlamp washers though?

I'm sure most other cars no longer have headlight washers even with Xenons.

Has something changed?

(Haven't had to fold my own mirrors since 2011...)
