My s4 has been in for two warranty repairs. One was a loose seal at the rear window which was rattling and another was the driver side heated mirror not working.

What's your verdict on the S4 in the snow?

Impressed with mine fair play, great fun biggrin

I'm happy with the S5, only thing it doesn't want to do is stop! Obviously it's no off roader and I could have put winter tyres on it but it's better than a lot of the alternatives in the snow.

How are you lot getting on with tyres?

Im fancying an Avant and had dismissed considering maintenance packages as my current AWD 335d is looking to get to 20k minimum on its original boots

But then someone has just posted in the lease thread that they needed new rubber in 7000 miles on their S4.........

Lots of variables I appreciate but thanks in advance

Cheers

I think it depends on the tyres. I have an RS3 and not sure what tyres come on the S4 (I've heard Hankook Ventus?) but the Pirelli P-Zeroes that come on the RS3 are notoriously fast wearing. Some owners replace with Michelin PS4S and report they go for twice as long.

My rears on my S5 are at 15k miles. One spent about 9k on the front, both fronts now had to be replaced because of incidents rather than wear. They are the Hankooks. I put PS4s (not PS4Ss) having known how well they wore on my Golf R, and they hardly look like they have been used. I'd say 50 percent of miles are motorway

It was Pirelli P Zero that my S4 came with that lasted 7000 miles. Swapped them for Nokian Zline. Mostly B road driving but there has been a lot of poor road surfaces this winter.

The roads around where I live are the worst I have ever seen, potholes everywhere. Running on new 20" rims really rattles your dentures.

Just placed an order for a S4 Saloon - and very excited about it

BUT - its a lease so don't want to add an extras. My issue is the colour - only have black or white to choose from!

I was going to go black - but on other threads I have looked at - people say the Audi black esp is a disaster - any views on owners ?

In what respect is black considered a disaster ?

I've got a black S4 saloon (with the black styling pack) and I think it looks stunning. OK it gets grubby at the first sign of rain but that is a characteristic of all black motors.

Just the paint is very soft - and marks super easy? If its just the normal issues with black paint that I am ok with that

Mine's covered about 3.5k so far - a mix of motorway and local - and I've not seen anything to suggest the paintwork is 'soft' or marks easily.

It's been waxed twice since I've had it (Super Resin) and, even on close inspection, I can't say there's much by way of swirling either.

I've got the standard white and I love it, it has a nice shine to it when clean!

Mine is black and treated badly, car wash every couple of months, parked outside always. Paint is still pristine after 10 months and £7k miles.

My S5 is Mythos black. Looks great when clean, but a real bu**er to keep it that way. Also, it is like an oven in summer!

Black here, got a couple of stone chips but nothing to make me think ‘soft paint ‘
Maybe because we bought a used red golf and I got waylaid after snowfoaming it and before rinsing it, it lifted all the touch ups out of the bonnet and now it looks like I’ve been following Ari vaatenen [sp?] round the welsh forests.

A bit late, but thank you to those who replied to my earlier questions.

I haven't signed a deal quite yet, but I've been keeping a close eye on pricing with all the usual lease outfit's & I've noticed that a few are currently offering the S4 saloon at quite a huge discount in comparison to the Avant. For what is basically the same deposit / monthly deal, the salon is currently available for around £100 / £120 a month less than the Avant which is around about 30% + less - the RRP difference between them is only 3%.

I've asked how & if the same offer may become available on the Avant, but little feedback.

I don't suppose anyone knows any of the logic around specials / discount in the Audi range - a big ask I appreciate, but I would feel duty bound to eat my own toes if I signed an Avant deal for it to be reduced by 30% the following month?

Thanks.

If they have ordered more parts to build the RHD S4 avant than they have sold cars, there may be a deal.
If they want more S4 Avants on the road for Marketing purposes, there may be a deal.
It seems fairly random and unpredictable what the best deals are going to be on, the previous round of S4 saloon deals did not get an equivalent Avant deal coming out of the woodwork.*

The logic being that the S4 Avant is a lot more popular through retail than the S4 Saloon and therefore they aren't shoving it through leases. In the case of the S6, the Avant is more popular but the S6 is a very rare car indeed. I bet they sold 3 or 4 RS6s for every S6.
