Don't read too much into the charts. Regardless of which vehicle you select on their website, the actual "lines" on the chart are identical. Only their positions/scale varies. Compare this for a diesel excavator with the S5.

In other words, the charts are probably being generated on the fly from the supplied torque and HP figures. The lack of any RPM on the X axis is also bit of a giveaway.
Ignore the chart as the 'curves' are probably not accurate in relation to RPM as mentioned, but I think it is just intended to show the output in a graphical form. The BHP & Torque figures shown are about right though having used the box for a few weeks now, but will test on the dyno when I visit TDI next for some tweaks to be done.

I've got the Pocket GPS World speed camera POIs installed and working now. I'm sure I saw it mentioned somewhere that you could make it alert you when one is approaching but I can't for the life of me find it. Is it something that's possible or did I just imagine it?

Its definately possible to have the speed cameras notified with an audible signal as I've done it on my imported Pocket GPS World database to the S5. The distance varies with speed. I can't recall how I did it and can't get to check it out as I'm in the US and the car is in France!.

One thing I noticed when I imported the database was that all the icons appeared on the VC display of the SatNav, but not many appeared on the centre screen. This looks to have resolved itself over time.

Anyone else taken their new S5 over to mainland Europe?

Soon as I got to France the car seems to stop communicating properly with MyAudi so the destinations I've sent it are no longer on the MMI. When I try to use Connect the car tries to verify the license but after churning says the MyAudi server is not reponding.

When I call Audi they tell me the car has been using Connect so I'm confused where the problem is. Hoping others get the same issue and it can be sorted!

Is yours leased? I presume you notified them that it was going abroad? Not that I think it will have solved your issue just checking you haven't inadvertently broken the rules of your lease!

I've done a bit more digging and it looks like it's the non-so-intuitively-named "Arrival Notifications" feature I need to delve into. Will have a play in the morning.

I got a letter with mine saying you had to tell them when taking it abroad, and now that page has loaded up it seems that reflects what I was saying so not sure what the issue is? I wasn't getting at the OP merely trying to remind them in case it had been overlooked

I spoke to Audi about this on behalf of my business partner as she lives abroad permanently and was told on lease it was fine but she would have to return the car to the UK every 3 months. I assume they can track that via the comms, sat nav etc on board.

You need to inform Audi Finance UK (if leased through Audi) that you are taking the car abroad. They will then issue you a proof of ownership certificate as you wont have a V5. In France this is A MUST HAVE otherwise they can impound your car if you are stopped and don't have it. Other lease companies will provide similar documentation and authorisation. You may also be asked for proof of foreign insurance cover and sometimes breakdown cover, although Audi Financed vehicles provide Driverline cover for UK & foreign breakdown FOC. As above comment, generally a 3 month maximum outside of the UK.

Just fill the form if you haven't got V5 , get it and off you go ! Jesus

Travelling abroad?
If you have a Contract Hire finance agreement with us and wish to take the vehicle abroad, you will need to obtain a VE103 Foreign Travel Authority certificate from us. However, please ensure that you have adequate insurance cover.

Simply complete the online form below, and select submit. The form will be automatically sent to the team.

You will be sent your VE103 Foreign Travel Authority certificate within 14 days of your request. Please note this is valid for one year only and allows travel for up to 90 days in Europe.

If you have a Hire Purchase, Lease Purchase or Solutions (PCP) finance agreement with us, no action is required. Your agreement states you can take the car abroad (European destinations only) for a maximum of 90 days. However, please ensure that you have adequate insurance cover.

That is misleading.......If you are with Audi Finance, yes. If not then you need to contact the finance company your with and complete a different form.

One of the brokers site :

Travelling Abroad - Can the vehicle be taken abroad for a holiday or on business?
Yes, of course. With a few exceptions, almost all leased cars can be driven in Europe. However, you will need to notify the funder and arrange for them to send you a completed DVLA VE103 form as proof of their authority to take a leased vehicle abroad. The funder may charge a small administration fee for this process.

And

You are welcome smile

No, I was just pointing out that filling out and emailing the Audi form as per the link above will automatically send to Audi Finance, but it your not with them it's pointless though some people may take the advice thinking that is what you do, so I was trying to clarify this and stating that you may (or may not) need an additional or possibly different form from the lender depending on their policy. Just trying to makes things clearer for readers if going abroad with the car (as I am).....but others are getting shirty and keep trying to prove some sort of point.

So, moving on.........................

Yes I've notified them and got the requisite VE103B. Its a blanket approval running for a year.

They ask that you give them 2 weeks notice, but my car only arrived a week before I was due to travel. I pointed out the car was 2 months late and they were very good and sent me an advance emailed copy.

I admit I'm too lazy to read the manual, and in any case coming from an S3 I'm finding a lot of 'tips and tricks' are carried over.

One thing I was surprised about and like are the cornering lights that light up on appraching a junction, or turning at slow speed at night. Had not read about that feature in the blurb.

How do you find the performance/drive against the S3?

Simply put, superior in almost every way.

I had the DTUK box on a manual S3 and was finding the driving experience wearing when pressing on - lurch, lurch. The missus hated it. Now the acceleration is turbine smooth. OK part of it is manual verses auto, part of it is the driver but the whole driving experience is less frantic.
The S3 didn't inspire confidence over an undulating road at high speed. It was crashy over any rough bits in the road. The S5 is far better behaved at speed and, whilst not smooth, doesn't make so much of a meal about bad road surfaces.
The S5 seems far more mature and I don't find myself needing to thrash it or drive like a d1ck.

On a recent 500 mile trip to France at indicated 75mph in UK and 135kph in France indicated mpg was 32.2mpg
Around town and local trips with the odd bit of fun the indicated mpg is around 23.

The S3 became tiring on a long trip due to the seats and the exhaust drone, neither of which has been an issue on the S5.

Not regretted the change for a moment.

Pardon my ignorance, however I'm sure I read on member who was considering an exhaust modification that was reversible. I presume this was associated with a resonator? I'm considering it for a lease car but would appreciate some advice as I can't find the original post.
