Pardon my ignorance, however I'm sure I read on member who was considering an exhaust modification that was reversible. I presume this was associated with a resonator? I'm considering it for a lease car but would appreciate some advice as I can't find the original post.
I suggested that the valves in the exhaust could be disconnected which may make it open all the time (could shut it all the time though)

You're 100% sure there are valves in the exhaust? It's not just a bulkhead sondaktuator like the B8's have?

I always understood that the B9 S5 like the B7 RS4 had these valves that activated when in dynamic mode. I'm not 100% certain though.

It comes from the back of the car, and I have seen the exhaust system on ETKA and it looks like it has actuators in the back. I presume you dont have your car yet? The sound is worlds apart from the B8 in terms of volume, and is waaay less fake sounding than the Golf R. I arent even convinced there is a soundaktor as the engine noise is fairly quiet.

No, definitely no soundaktor installed as confirmed by Audi when I test drove the S5. I did ask the question because I wanted to know if the dynamic sound was fake or from the actual exhaust. Oddly, (on mine at least) it is a fair bit louder inside than outside, so I'm not convinced there is not something else somehow enhancing the note from the rear of the car, and possibly a bit of trickery from the under boot cover base speaker.

Really? Mine makes a racket from outside!

There is a soundaktor on ETKA but I arent sure if its only on diesel A5s or something.

The exhaust note will be too high a frequency for that speaker I suspect

Mine is noticeable from the outside for sure, but definitely not a 'racket' as you put it. Wonder why the difference then?......it is slightly louder with the tuning box installed though than it was as just stock. I'm not that bothered about it either way TBH, it's just a curiosity.

At start up I think its louder out than in, and even when the mrs takes it out and I am in the house I can hear it quite loudly when it fires up

Thanks for confirming. No - I have one of the final B8 S4's so following this thread with interest as a B9 S4/5 is an obvious candidate to replace it with when the time comes.

Any more updates or reports on tdi boxes? Any issues to report? Still tempted but want to be sure it is running smoothly with everyone.

Anyone tried any of the other companies? Think dtuk is still under final testing (even though it shows on their website the chap said there are still a few tweaks needed before they are ready)

No problems with mine. I'm going to get mine 'tweaked' a bit by TDI though to smooth out the power band on gears 1-3 on setting 7 as it is a bit too aggressive. Other than that settings 1-6 are fine and it still goes like a rocket. TBH setting 4 is quite enough in dynamic sport mode for general driving about.

Does anyone know if the Quattro or Ring puddle lights are available on the S5 Coupe? I haven't seen anything about it and don't remember it being an optional extra.

It's called "Audi Beam" and is standard on MY2018 cars.

Thank you, really showing my ignorance here, but if I am yet to take delivery and the car is build week 25 this year, can I assume it has them?

Any tips on what insurance companies to use?

I just updated the S5 to my Aviva multicar for now but renewal is up in a week and was wondering if there were any particularly good companies/prices for the S5?

Do you all have a £500 compulsory excess on top of the voluntary one for the S5?

I will update you tonight, I need to add my S5 being delivered tomorrow to my Admiral multicar policy.

Update - compulsory excess from Admiral of £100, plus £75 on the windscreen and something on something else but I wasn't really listening by that point (I hope it wasn't important).

Those with tuning boxes who are you insured with?
