Just had a thought - if you disconnect the exhaust valves, so they no longer move - won't they seize? All the soot and crap that you get on the tailpipe will also build up on the flap/bearing. In normal use, it gets moved every time you start the car, which would break up any build-up. But if it never moves, I wonder if it will get too much build up, then when you plug it back in it won't be able to cycle and ping up error codes.
Not a problem if your car and never want to re-activate them (in which case might be better removing them completely) But if it is a lease car which needs to be put back to normal - might be an issue.

You could be right. Mine are still disconnected, and I have no intention to re-connect them so I'm not that worried. When it is eventually returned and re-connected, I'm sure the inspector will not have a clue whether they are working or not, or even what they are!Not a problem if your car and never want to re-activate them (in which case might be better removing them completely) But if it is a lease car which needs to be put back to normal - might be an issue.

Anyone considered the RS5 Honeycomb grill as a replacement? A few companies now offering this part. I saw an s4 with the rs4 grill and it looked so aggressive. I think I may do this!
I do like the RS grille and it looks great on the S5, but if it is stupidly expensive (recon it will be) then I personally would not bother.Bluesmurff09 said:
Out interest why are some folk removing the plugs in the exhaust to leave the flaps open constantly therefore make it loud all the time? Surely leaving the car in dynamic does that and leaves the flaps open whilst the engine is running doesn't it?
It does, but for some who want to, you can have the sporty exhaust note in all modes.Bluesmurff09 said:

It is said on many forums, even in dynamic the flaps shut below 40mph / certain throttle positions to comply with EU noise regs.Unplugging gives you the dynamic sound even at pootling around speeds.
The only way to have the flaps open all the time is to have it in sport on transmission and dynamic in drive select. If you have it in D and Dynamic and switch to manual it is quieter than if you are in S Dynamic and go to manual when driving, S mode also increases tickover slightly so is louder at idle regardless of the flaps. I have checked this by looking down the pipes when the engine was running in each mode (I was checking they were working after reconnecting them)
Just seen this video which is mindboggling. The b9 s4 with an exhaust being timed 0-60. Besides the exhaust the car is stock with no tune.
https://youtu.be/y0S6WEPlotI
I can't inagine what sort of 0-60 times the car is putting down with a tuning box or a map. Has anyone accurately timed their cars yet from 0-60?

Impressive!https://youtu.be/y0S6WEPlotI
If you view the clip frame-by-frame you'll see the car starts to move maybe a quarter of a second (6/7 frames) before the timer starts, but even so...
So I have bought a Ghost and had it fitted.
I did not realise that it allows you to start the car but locks the gearbox in neutral until you enter a code, rather than just not letting you start the car. Great piece of kit and totally stealth (not used the window stickers). Only pain is I keep forgetting to enter the code and have to start all over again, but it is now becoming more of a habit. At least I don't have to worry so much where I park it now thank god.
