Another quick one - does the type of Petrol you're putting in make any difference to MPG? I've just been using bog standard Esso Petrol since I got it...
Based on the B9 S4: I've tried both, and 98 makes no difference to performance or economy. The engine is tuned for 95. No point going higher.TomScrut said:

I'm averaging 29mpg over the life of the car which I think is pretty good. I do travel 80miles three days a week which probably helps.
Yeah I was doing 31mpg in summer and 29mpg in winter. But I do have a 100 mille commute one day a week.I have noticed quite a few things which I think will need flagging with a dealership.
- seat belt feeder on the passenger side seems a bit buggered.
- the vibrating/rattling from the subwoofer is very irritating - this is occurring even at low volumes - it can't be normal?
- the raise/lowering mid button on the drivers seat doesn't seem to work. Just 'clicks' and does nothing when I try to use them, or functions slightly then just dies. Very strange!

20 months in and I discover if you’re in efficiency mode or auto mode and in eighth gear, with your foot off the pedal, you can flick the gear up paddle and it will force the box in to coast.
Works for me in any gear. If I lift off and flick paddle up it goes into coast. Finally sorted an S5 replacement. Ended up signing for a BMW 840i M Sport Gran Coupe via G2L on a very good deal - 9+23 with 10k per annum at £3100 down and £351 a month.
Less sporty obviously but I am fine with that and never had a BMW before.
Does mean all my add-ons are for sale including a full Milltek system so if anyone knows someone with a B9 S5 coupe who fancies an 18 month old Milltek system let me know!

I've had that coast function when I've had DSG in courtesy cars etc, and I don't get the point? I get it's to save fuel, but I thought it was a well known fact you use more fuel in neutral than when in gear just "rolling" where the fuel cut off means you use none at all. This is even reflected in what you can see in the DIS - So what's the actual point?

I missed the boat on the original 840i deal but fingers crossed I can get a Q2 slot for ~20% of list over 2 years. Still a cracking deal.
The Autogehful guy really liked it in his review so hopefully it'll be an entertaining drive.

Good luck, they look like a cracking car.
Well my S5 collection is postponed for at least a month and the new 8 series drop off delayed by at least the same.
Got the car back to standard and finally got the Milltek system off (another great job by Unit 20 in Cheshire) so its up for grabs should anyone know anyone!

Thread bump.
I'm actually on the hunt for a B9 S5 now.
Is there any easy way to tell if a car has got the GPF?
Have they all got it? Or is it after a certain date etc?
I drove a 68 plate sportback car, and I have no idea if it was preGPF etc.
None of the petrol ones have a GPF as far as I am aware. I'm actually on the hunt for a B9 S5 now.
