So picked up my GTI last Monday. The black rubin colour is more striking in real life than the photos would have you believe. It makes the car, which is already pretty understated I think, almost stealth like.

Not sure I understand your comment. Is the Black Rubin striking or stealthy?

Do you like the colour?

Both. As I said. It's striking in the sense that it is a rich, deep colour which looks damn good. More than say red or white. It's stealthy because it's not a colour you'd necessarily associate with a hot hatch.

My Red DSG that had a confirmed BW of Week 26 has been in Sheerness since Monday so must have actually been built earlier. Dealer reckons it could arrive next week and they might have it ready for collection before the weekend!

According to my broker my order number changed due to the issue with the cars being built without fog lights.

Mines is currently in the dealer and ready (I am not collecting until mid-September).

How are those that jammed 'good will' hire cars doing? Any update on orders?

Got mine delivered yesterday, really pleased with it. DSG in tornado red, with foglights too!

No photos as it's filthy, driven up from Poole to Manchester.

My confirmed build week of 24th July now shows as in transit on the tracker app so they must be building a few early

Hi,

I just did the whole compare the market thing and got quotes around £500 on the GTI for me and the wife, both mid thirties.

I have had a few lease cars these last few years for either me or the wife, C4 Grand Picasso, DS3 & Nissan X-Trail. I have not taken the GAP insurance on either of them as I figured only an accident would be the cause for using it. With the GTI though there is a possibility (probably small) that some one will nick it so I will be taking GAP out on it when it comes in September mainly for this reason.

Each to their own but the cost is fairly low for the piece of mind that means I can park it up and not have to worry about it.

Thanks, I had a panic on with compare meerkats because I couldnt change from the default personal ownership. My broker said the car will be owned and registered to VWFS. I've got a policy sorted now though, only about £50 more than my current mk5 GT TDI on like for like policies. I've paid a bit extra for courtesy car plus, mis-fuelling and key protection.

I'll start shopping around for GAP insurance now.

Hi guys,

just as a starter I had a quote sent to be by the supplier of the vehicle;

AutoTrust Asset Protection which will cover your financial shortfall if the vehicle is written off during the course of the next 2 years. This is a form of GAP Insurance.

the quote was for £249 paid in either one sum or 10 monthly payments of £24.90

Look at ALA if you're intetested in GAP. I believe they do a piston heads discount code but can't remember it.

Second this by the way thought it was an obvious starting point, just go to the buying section of the forum and ALA have their own thread at the top.

Much cheaper than my previous post but thought it would give a marker.

Cheers.

I started shopping around but i'm more confused now than when i started.
ALA quoted £139, with £15000 of cover (i think the PH discount is 12% on top)
Cheapest quote i found was about £88 iirc with unlimited cover

one company wouldnt quote me until the car is in my possesion which seems a bit backwards..

other online quotes suggested i only need £5000 cover.

Am i supposed to cover the difference between potential market value and the retail value, or simply the cost of my amortised payment to the broker?

confused

You get 2 types, one which covers you back to the invoice value and one that gives you the current market value, allowing you to effectively buy the same car again.

I'm not sure though which is best for a lease, all you want to make sure is your not left without a car etc. in the event of a crash.
