The Golf GTI lease thread
Discussion
I have just had confirmation from my wife (who works for VW) that my new GTI will be available on September 18th - I have just gone for bog standard at £269 a month with 0 deposit. I hand it back after 6 months and get another new one, which suits me perfectly.
It will be Rubin Black with the Jacara cloth interior and DSG. I have been driving a leased Fiesta 1.25 for 2.5 yrs, so can't wait to get back into something with a bit of pace. My 500 SEL is driven at a more leisurely pace too.
My wife has gone for the TDI option at £20 a month less, she does 2 miles to work, so obviously desperately needs a diesel - fortunately she will get a new one every 6 months too, so no need to worry.
I have had a MK2 and MK4 GTI and never driven a DSG car, so am looking forward to it.

So far done about 300 miles, trying not to check MPG as thats not why i've bought the car. One 16 commute I managed 42mpg, the other day was a more spirited effort and just scraped over 30mpg.
Thismorning was the first time I noticed the red glowing inlays in the door cards!

Best I have got is mid 30's cruising at 70-75...
yes my commute is half through the city and half along A roads hence reasonable MPG. I have found motorway journeys to be less economical. 60-75mph in 6th doesn't quite have the torque available i'm used to, so finding i'm prodding the pedal a lot to accelerate as quickly as I would like or dropping to 5th.

Cheers. Hope I get the same
Really? They have been heavily criticised by Golf R drivers, myself included. I've no idea why VW persevere with them, they're very poor.Gassing Station | Audi, Seat, Skoda & VW | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
