Cheers. Hope I get the same
You really don't, they've got very little traction if it's at all cold, damp or rainy. "Perfect" tyre for UK conditions.

Really? They have been heavily criticised by Golf R drivers, myself included. I've no idea why VW persevere with them, they're very poor.

Totally agree and I only got 11k miles out of mine, Dunlop Sport Max is much better so far

Can second this, I had them on my Fiesta ST from new and they were absolutely garbage. Fitted 2 Michelin Pilot Sport fronts after 8,000 miles and they completely transformed the car.
My plan when my new R arrives is to replace them shortly after delivery (most probably with PS4s), and then put them back on before it goes back.

They sound st! I just saw the original post and read some reviews where they seemed decent enough. Maybe I can try having a word with the dealer. Probably vain hope. Thanks for feedback guys...

The dealer isn't going to change the tyres that come on the car from the factory. As I said above, you're going to need to change them at some point, so better to change on delivery and get good use out of decent tyres, then revert to the ones it came with just before it goes back.

Including fitting (and then subsequent refitting) you're looking at at least two monthly payments. I'll be stick with the bridgestones.
I've never successfully got more than 7000 miles out of a pair of fronts on a GTI, and I've driven them for over a decade now. Changing them is a given for me.

What size are the tyres on the GTI wheels so I can see what I can source ahead of mine arriving?

Finally got it! Have only driven it for about 10 miles so far, initial impressions are very good.

Looks awesome thumbup

Out of interest....what was your timescale? So order placed, to build, to arrival in UK?

Ordered mine mid-July and build slot is confirmed as week of 21/08. The anticipation is killing me!

Most 18" wheels on Golfs are usually 225/4018 92.

Ordered early April, delivered on 31st July. We could have got it a week or so earlier, but arranged it to coincide with the return of another car.

Ordered ours early May. 5dr DSG.

Build week of W/C 31/8 didn't change once after first confirmation.

Had update to say car was built today. smile

Ordered my Ruben Black 5dr DSG with a tow bar on 4th April. Still only at stage 2! No idea when it will arrive, but can't complain as VW have given me this to mooch around in. Probably a better tow car wink

My GTI turned up at 8:30am this morning, freshly washed by the delivery driver! Loving the colour - really wasn't sure what to expect having not seen one in the flesh but I'm very impressed!

Can't wait for work to be finished to give it a good run out. beer

Cracking colour!

I wasn't keen on the wheels after seeing the stock photos on the VW site, but I am glad I stuck with them. They look great.

I've went for Storm white and its getting delivered in 4 weeks time.
