21st century motors sent an email.
All GTIs gone.
There are some 1.6 litre engines available.
R estates.
And Scirocco R manuals.

Also got the same email and started to look at the options.
The Scirocco is actually pretty good value and cheaper than GTI.
Obviously down on power (180BHP) - but the main issue it is not very big in the back and a very old model now.
Didn't realise it is now 8 years old! and they haven't brought the interior up to date with the MK7 Golf. Still just a MK6 style and tech.

The Scirocco R is the one to go for if you can grab a good enough deal on one. I still think that the Golf is the more complete car and will be my next lease if any more decent deals do crop up towards the end of the year.

They ruined it with the facelift, to my eyes at least anyway. They just look like everything else now and is still based on the MK5 Golf platform, which is ancient. The brand new Scirocco should be interesting but heard no news about it at all, despite them reckoning it will be released by next year, if i remember rightly.

I'm still debating on colour choice for my GTI. Saw an indium grey one this morning at the local vw dealers, though I'm keen to see the isaac blue or black rubin in the flesh, does anyone have a pic or link to one?

A broker (who i will name as experiance has been poor) has got finance approved but not keen to take my reservation fee. He says he waiting for something from dealership before he calls me back with confirmation and takes my payment.

Is this true? Or is he just buying time?
Have i most likely missed out on gtis?

Anyone else in same/ similar position?

As above - the cars have gone. So broker appears to be doing the right thing.

Incidentally, I went through Hub Leasing who haven't asked for a reservation fee. Nothing to pay until I get the car.

Thanks - that's what I was looking at. Very tempting at that price - but apart from being better looking and less practical, don't think it is much better than my 9 year old Octavia vRS!
A lot of car for the money - but feel it is a bit too old in terms of tech/design now.

The chassis is old and the interior is the original layout but the tech isn't old. I had my R delivered last week and it has absolutely everything bar cruise, including the latest touch screen discovery pro nav.

Worth noting incase you were considering one.

Are you sure the Scirocco R comes with the 9 inch discovery pro? I thought only the basic 6 inch one was fitted in the Scirocco? The discovery and discovery pro are not even configurable options on the VW site.

First time post.

Been offered a 5dr DSG in pearl Black (10k) for £2110 up front and £230 per month.

£308 per month for 24 months.

By my calculations that's 24.6% of the rrrp.

I'm currently paying £390 for a 335 m sport plus. I won't get anywhere near that figure again so very tempted by the GTI.

Hi,

It may be worth waiting a few weeks as there is a roumour there my be some better GTi deals. You could get a Golf R estate for not much more than that, 2213 initial and 246 a month from Select car leasing and there is probably better dels out there than that.

I'm fairly sure it's 9inch but I haven't measured it (Pun Intended) biggrin The screen quality is really impressive! It was all included as part of the lease as I think they want all these ex lease roc's to have a high spec unlike what happened with the previous golf R's.

So I contacted my dealer and asked him to again clarify the situation with delivery as he had originally told me September was fine, then VWFS said no it had to be June 30th latest (Q2 end), yet I saw posts here with customers being allowed even December delivery.

He's now got new information from VWFS that have said I can take delivery in September! So no ETF necessary (although funnily enough I was ready to accept my £250 ETF for my GTD and get into a GTI in June...I might still be persuaded ).
