So I got myself into a bit of trouble today. Ms Shost, who I've been with for 5+ years has been struggling with no power window on drivers side for over 2 years (apparently), and no stereo, 12v and blue tooth on her Aygo along with some cosmetic damage and niggles.

I fixed them all in 5 mins. Replaced switch for window and a single fuse took care of rest. Prized off a badly scuffed bumper rub moulding which I will paint along with new mirror casing and re fit. And showed her how to fix boot latch when it sticks. Total time <30mins and I'll probably spend an hour or so painting the trim parts at a later date.

She was then very angry with me as the faults were so easy to fix. I cannot honestly say why I hadn't done so sooner having had both time, tools and opportunity. My only defence is I thought she had taken window fault to a garage who couldn't fix it. But really I should have checked that. I'm not sure if I've gained or lost man points overall!

Get yourself down to the local pubs and try get a new girl. Having an affair will then show her.

You admitted it was easy, epic fail!
I bet she gives the impression she slaves over your dinner and that childbirth smarts a bit. You're meant to protect the manly mystique of mending things regardless of the easiness of the fix!
Quick, break something else when she's not looking and spend all swearing and grazing your knuckles!

She's going to park it in a lake tomorrow. That'll be your fault too.

Look - When we tell them we will fix something, we will. Please stop reminding us every 6 months...

Haha brilliant! But seriously, never tell the truth again. It'll only end in more animosity between you.

Of course, having no external genitalia means even easy fixes cannot be undertaken, its all equality, equal pay, equal rights until something needs fixing, something icky needs dealing with or something needs paying for, come on ladies, you are letting yourselves down ! at least have go and dont just defer to blokes on anything car related and play the "But I am a girl card".

There are a few things either sex cannot do biologically, ok, us males are generally stronger and cant have babies, but with pretty much anything else, gender is irrelevant.

Blimey - I'd say you're ok. You wouldn't last with my Mrs = two problems on a car and she has to have a new one.

It sounds like tHe MeNtAl has spoken.

Unless you actually broke the car in the first place, you're not to blame here.
If anyone is to blame (unlikely) it's your missus - for not having the gumption to either learn how to fix things, or to have them fixed.
Personally I'd calmly remind her that I'd just fixed her car for her, which she'd failed to do something about.
Thanks are in order, not blame.

I am divorced though. Make of that what you will.

OP - your mistake for showing how quick the fix was!

Hide in the garage for a bit and have a sort out...
Nip off to 'source parts' - for the afternoon (pub)...
Do a full service and some odd jobs on your car whilst she's out...

And then turn you up early evening with dirty hands, pat the car and say 'OK, all done and dusted for you' with your best "it wasn't easy, but hey, you're worth it and I'm a guy that can" smile.

You then gratefully accept a steak dinner and the offer of an early night hehe

My missus was attacked by a McDonald's bollard while driving my car. Not covered by insurance so I've been meaning to replace both driver's side doors since November. I just haven't got round to buying a paint gun yet. Getting a garage to fix it would have cost the value of the car. Selling it as-is would be worthless.

Of course, the accident was my fault because I took too long to decide what I wanted. I wasn't even in the bloody car!

As stated you made it look too easy.

It was none car related, but last weekend i had to engage in a job in the house that I'd been putting off since 2012.

I managed to pick up a minor injury but it did draw blood.

I got loads of sympathy and a "sponsored" night out at the pub with a mate.

The key to this was the injury.

I finally got round to fixing my OH's inoperative passenger side window after about a year's badgering.

Door card off, 'hotwired' the motor to find that wasn't the culprit. Switch ok, fuses ok, scratch head. Hang on - what's this here button for next to 'her side' window switches? Despite being a 3-door RAV4, it still had a 'child lock' window disable button - operating on the passenger siderolleyes

Shared embarrassment all round....

Wasted opportunity. You should have fabricated a wiring issue that took you ages to track down and repair, while simply pressing the offending button and calling it a fix. The "repair" time could have been spent tinkering in the garage or shed, or even in the pub if she wasn't home at the time.

wink
