Dog camping any tips?

That's pretty much it. We bought a corckscrew ground anchor so we could tie him up as most campsites require dogs to be on leads at all times.

Sounds fair to me. Most dogs are happy to sleep in the porch, they have a fur coat after all. A ground anchor is a good idea. Dogs love camping because they know where everyone is and they can station themselves in "dominate the stairs" position and make sure nothing happens without them knowing about it.
We've taken our two several times, a ground screw as already mentioned & we crated ours (they're both used to it). Nicer to insulate the crate from the cold ground, a piece of roll mat or similar would do, we used to cover the top & 3 sides with a sheet to make them feel more secure & keep them a little warmer if the overnight temps dropped.
