Why not just buy an RS4?
For the same reason that you put an extension on a smaller house because you can't afford a huge house. Not terribly difficult to work out is it?
A remap is probably a twentieth of the price delta between the models.
MRC or Revo seem to get good results.

Thanks guys appreciate your feedback, dealing with one of the best people, is there any significant risks to the car?
If it's new, your warranty will probably be void if they detect the remap. Given the fluid state of S4/S5s, I'd hold off doing anything for a while in case a ECU reprogramme is in the works!Any tuning puts increased load on the engine - A simple remap (by a reputable company) is probably not going to reduce the life dramatically, but look at some of the money people spend on regularly rebuilding Skyline GTR engines pumping out crazy power for an example of how you can over do it!
I suspect what you're asking for will be fine, provided you go with a reputable company who've been around a while and offer a warranty.

I'm thinking a stage 1 map (as per the Chris Harris video) wouldn't stress the engine too much and it's not as if a road car is likely to be driven at 10/10ths all the time anyway.Going the whole 500hp+ (checkout MRC's video) maybe a different story? Especially on a B8 with the s-tronic box? (is it the same gearbox as an RS4?) but I understand the B9 has a stronger autobox?
I'm certainly tempted with my B8, although I don't really want to be tied to having to use 98+ octane fuel all the time which is one reason the Revo 'SPS' system looks attractive as it can switch between maps for 95, 98, race fuel and back to standard.
I'd be wary with a new car regarding the warranty. I've still got a few months warranty left on mine so it's not such an issue, although I would have some concerns over any potential 'goodwill' in the event of a gearbox failure that may or may not be caused by a remap but a reason that Audi might decline?
As an example, I had the camchain tensioner failure on my old A3, 3.2 and although it happened out of warranty, Audi covered most of the cost as a goodwill gesture - I bought it new and had it serviced by a main dealer and it was unmodified...

Ive just got my self a new b9 s4 really happy with the car, however thinking of he getting it remapped so it pushes over 400hp. Is this safe to do for the car? There are so many people do this can an anyone recommend or has done it already?
A remap is fine and a better option if you are out of warranty, but on a new B9 S4 definitely not as it will be voided. You really would not want to risk it if anything went majorly wrong with the car and needed a warranty repair as a physical ECU remap is detectable. Also it will flag up on any service done.I have a B9 S5 and purchased a TDI Tuning box for this very reason. It is very easily removable and undetectable. The car produces 408bhp & 565nm torque on setting seven, and believe me it goes like a rocket (0-60 in 3.8-3.9 seconds). Have done 3k miles with it installed and no issues at all. Checked the ECU with it unplugged using VCDS and nothing shows (no flags) whatsoever.
The unit is reprogrammable for any other SENT system vehicle and you just need to change the harness. Also TDI will ‘tweak it’ to your liking. It isn’t cheap though at around £700.00.
There are other tuning boxes out there to choose from with varying quoted performance figures and prices, but I can only report on the one I have installed.
Also, in either case you MUST inform your insurance company!
I believe that b9 remaps have not been developed yet. However I imagine it will be pretty impressive when they do come out..As mentioned MRC are experts..
I bet there are plenty of remapped cars out there still in warranty, with relatively few failure rates or issues. OP, I would wait to see if there is a recall on the engine SW first.
Out of interest, why the remap, you looking for more torque, better response?

Here is an S4 B9 ECU re-map company should you want to risk it. Not much improvement over a tuning box as yet though.I bet there are plenty of remapped cars out there still in warranty, with relatively few failure rates or issues. OP, I would wait to see if there is a recall on the engine SW first.

I have been looking at Remaps for a good 6 months. It is best to go with an MTM Cantronic Box. its a plug and play and won't affect warranty. it costs a lot more than a normal remap but well worth it.had one of my cars albeit not a vw group car mapped at 3 days old,
now on 95k with a few warranty jobs under her belt with no issues.
again reputable company decent map and understand there is a definite albeit small risk of being financially out of pocket if you do run into problems and you'll be fine

Celtic Tuning have one. 333 - 400bhp https://www.celtictuning.co.uk/services/performanc...
With a stage 1 map, they took my BMW 520D from 177 to 254.
