I'm feeling completely ripped off at the moment! Please tell me if I should do or not, I've ordered a 190ps RLine Arteon from a dealer near by with a 4yr lease, Panoramic, Reverse Camera and Keyless entry.

I paid 7,400 down and will be paying 375 for 48months.

I've just moved back to the UK and never dealt with leasing a car before, but everyone I've talked swears its the best thing to do. Maybe on the deals I've been hearing here, coz I'm feeling guttered right now..

I will be picking up the car this weekend. So only paid deposit.

Saw a black R Line yesterday, thought it looked really nice.
It's now top of my company car replacement list
It was top of mine, but VW drop off our list from 1st January and I still have 2 years to run on my current car.

Was hoping a GTE would be launched - but it looks like it'll be a 330e or 530e when the time comes.

Must admit, I don't know anyone at work who's ordered any VW in the past 3 years. Our car park is all BMW, Audi and some Skoda.

That's £6350 per year you are paying. Some are paying that for 2 years. They probably don't have as many miles though, and you have also added extra options. But you are paying £25,400 for 4 years. That's very expensive!

Ouch, that does seem expensive.

Granted with the only option of a reversing camera and only 8k per annum the total cost of my 2 year lease works out at a few quid short of £7000.

Sadly I think you’ll struggle to get anywhere near that price now, as the deal was available for such a short space of time.

They seem to be at least £100 per month more expensive now.

Mines in stock and ready for collection.

I really like the look of the Arteon but as you say the lease deal is now over so I might go down the second hand buying route.

I also fancy the 280BHP / 4motion which wasn't on offer.

Does anyone not have the adaptive dampers fitted and feel their Arteon is riding high? I saw some images and some cars look very low and aggressive and others look like they sit tall?

I've added new some links to my post on the first page of this thread which contains links to Arteon road tests from various magazines and newspapers.

My car is coming on Tuesday. Really interested to hear Dynaudio in Arteon. Any experiences?

Picked one up this morning for OH, and I’ve just covered about 150 Miles.

Good points

Decent ride. I suppose helped by being long, wide and heavy. Be good for the licence; seems to like wafting along at 70 ish with very little road/wind noise. Considering on standard suspension I was pleased.

Seating. Easy to get comfy. Under thigh support adjustable which is a bonus as is the lumbar support. Bum warmers like Goldilocks porridge. Not all settings are scorching.

Virtual cockpit. Nice and clear. Sat nav good. VC controls on the steering wheel good to use.

HVAC. Nice to still have some rotary knobs, rather than pressing the screen.

Steering wheel. Having recently driven a few things with awful steering wheels (alfa 4c, Peugeot 5008 to name two) that’s really detracted from driving the things, it was nice to find a roundish wheel, that’s not too hard/soft/thick and flows through your hands nicely. Made a big difference to comfort IMO.

Audio- seemed pretty decent for a bog standard factory system. Little boomy but listenable.

Bad

Petrol stations- 90 quid to fill it....

Seat fabric- the carbon look stuff is a bit naff. Makes the seat look lumpy and poorly finished. More like 70’s Japanese vinyl than a premium look.

Menus- all sorts of random guff in the sub menus. No idea why anyone would want most of it. Still, at least you can ignore it if you choose.

Parking- only option I got was the reversing camera. Glad I did. Visibility not the best.

Nanny state- drove back along the cat and fiddle ( for those who don’t know it a very windy and narrow Rd in the Peak District.) I’m hoping there is a way of switching it all off but the warning systems were going beserk at passing lorries, stone walls, and even sharp bends. Lots of bings, bongs and distracting flashing triangles on the dashboard.

Dealership. Verbatim conversation.

Me “I’ve come to pick up an Arteon”
Dealer” it’s over there” (points outside and throws keys, no paperwork, nothing to sign. Didn’t even ask my name)
Conversation ends.

Now he wasn’t from the fleet dept, they’d left the keys with used sales but I’ve had a better handover buying a bed for the cat. Nothing 5 min with the handbook didn’t sort but pretty poor.

I’m thinking of ringing them on Monday and saying sorry I couldn’t collect the car but I’ll be in today........

And for those who opted for Uranos grey it’s much darker than in the configurator and looks pretty good.

That handover reminds me of the few times I’ve been to Listers in Worcester. “ Can I have a look inside XYZ outside please”. Sales twonks just click a set of keys then carry on talking to the dolly bird at the reception desk. I have therefore purchased elsewhere every time.

Have a look in the back - does it have 3 Zone air-con? (it should, but some seem to have been wrongly built it would appear).

Seems to have it. Press the button on the dial of the climate control and it comes up with a diagram of the inside of the car and allows individual temps to be set for all 4 seats.

I have some issues with my Arteon as well. It has been in dealership and they did not solve a thing.
Passenger door vibrates while listening music. Its not even for deep bass music, it happens on mid range sound. When i push the door with finger it stops. They are unable to make it stop. Makes 1100 quid Dynaudio more worth it.
Very dissapointed tbh.

Second problem is whistling sound from small vent in drivers side A pillar. They told me they have never seen anything like it. When aircon is off or when we put it on recirculation it doesnt make the sound. If the aircon is on and we open any of the windows by just a little bit the noise also stops.
Mind that the air is still coming out of that vent in all of the instances.

The car will go back to service for a week when it is suitable for me so they can try to solve it.

Pretty happy with everything else. 360 camera is one of the best things on the car and very helpful.

Getting 32 mpg for now, covered about 450 miles.

I believe that there should be a control in the rear for the rear seat passengers to do this for themselves, there's a picture of the rear showing this in the brochure, and it's a typical in other cars with 3 zone climate, including the current Passat.

No controls in the back seat, just the vents.

Can control from touchscreen to give each of the 4 seats a different temp zone, and the two front seats a different fan speed. The fan speed in the back is the same as the corresponding front seat.
