The Arteon lease thread
Discussion
OK, while driving to the shops for my weekly shop, I tried out the predicitve cruise control functions.
I can say they do work, i was able to negotiate changing speed limits and major junctions inc. roundabouts without doing anything but steering and observing the traffic around me.
Predictive CC is a little unnerving at first, like it was using ACC for the first time, but it does work. I've no doubt it will trip over at some point, but then you will be observing and ready to react as normal if it does.

Depends on your driving, my long term average (although only 4K miles) is 36mpg. 40’s is achievable on a long run but I can’t see you averaging that day in day out.

Depends on your driving style etc, but I think you'd struggle to break 40mpg in a 2.0 Arteon long-term.
I have 3,000 miles now and long term average is 50.1mpg (2.0 petrol SE 190PS). Best I achieved on an individual trip was 59.9mpg over 56 miles.Edited by Mark V GTD on Wednesday 22 April 09:55
Sorry I can't help with that Jonesy - but good to see the thread start up again. Though I had killed it!!
Only issue I have is the data interaction thing is set to 'maximum security' and can't be changed which means I can't enable the VW app. Will need to take it to a dealer to get that sorted out according to VW.

Looking very sharp! What are your observations after a week?
What about the stupid mini USB ports it has? I just ordered some adaptors to make them work - no idea why they have been changed from full size USB's.
Those are USB-C over the older and larger USB-A, so more modern tech! What about the stupid mini USB ports it has? I just ordered some adaptors to make them work - no idea why they have been changed from full size USB's.
I suppose you could argue in a car the older ports are probably hardier in the long run than the smaller USB-C jobs on the newer cars.
This is a lonely place - it can't just be me! Only yesterday I had another Arteon behind me - you don't see many but it was nice to be in the pair.
To answer my own question - I just booked my first service with the local VW dealer at 17,000 miles (the car is showing another 1000 or so miles to go actually but there is no advantage in waiting a few more weeks). I'm paying £254.00 inc VAT using Longlife oil so that will see me through to the end of the lease in ten months time. I am fairly happy with it - around £100 less than Audi were asking for the A4 first service last year.
The only question really is preservation of the tyres until the end of the lease. Do I swap them front to back and risk possibly needing all four replaced or just stay with the fronts and almost certainly require replacements before the hand back....hmmm.

Good going on the tyres - mine are Goodyear Eagles
I'm always really gentle on tyres for some reason. I must average 40k from the fronts on every car I've had. My last Skoda did 105k on the same rear tyres and I never changed the front discs/pads.Fleet companies love me.
