The Arteon lease thread
Discussion
Took delivery of one of the pre reg Arteon Shooting Brake R-Line last week and so far I'm very unimpressed with the car compared to my 2019 Elegance. Gone are the LED matrix headlights, gone is the Audi style digital cockpit, replaced with some smaller cheap looking display that is unable to display navigation properly, also the audio system is rubbish with less speakers than before giving a really poor sound quality. I can honestly say the old car was 100% better in every regard, VW have really gone downhill with the overall fit and finish. OK, the double length sunroof is a nice addition as is the easy opening boot - once you fathomed out how it worked.
I was torn between purchasing the old car but couldn't get the price below £21k, which I thought completely unreasonable for a 4 year old car with no warranty. In hindsight I wish I had just bitten the bullet and paid.

This does seem to be the general consensus in the Arteon world. The pre facelift cars are definitely better spec'd as standard. I have a 2019 280 r-line which has been a great car so far. However when it is time to change I won't be looking at a newer Arteon for the reasons you have mentioned above.
One other thing to watch out for on the facelift I'd the steering wheel issue. It seems to think you aren't holding it while using the ACC and throws and error. Solution seems to be to replace the entire wheel but they are all on back order. Hopefully the fact yours is a 23 they have started putting working wheels in them.
