Clubsport Edition 40
Discussion
It's one of the 5-door ones that were for sale at the Honda main dealer.
Only had it 2 days and driven approx. 50 miles so far, first impressions are that in everyday real world driving it doesn' t feel much slower than my (standard) Golf R. Obviously doing a full launch control start away from the lights on a greasy, wet surface will be a different story but how often do you really do that? It's also better specced than my R, the Recaro CS bucket seats and suede steering wheel feel really good in your hands.
I've promised the wife this one's staying standard and I won't spend any money on it.......although they respond so well to a simple stage 1 remap. I may or may not also be planning to stick on a big brake kit and drive over to the Nurburgring in the summer to see if I can get anywhere near the Clubsport S lap time.

Thanks for the update mate. I drove a clubsport S on saturday and I must say I'm blown away. They area noisy but they way it drives and sounds is just superb. The road up in Perth was cold and wet but feck me its a fast hard hard pulling car. It just feels special and that what I want. Currently negotiating on price so i'll keep you up dated. Glad you love yours. And interesting to read your view against an R
I agree. Their is a Tornado Red one in a showroom round he corner from me. Its as new and I'm soon tempted however its a good bit more than as new plus I want to drive it and it seams the one with miles on them they just don't sell or people want far to much for them. On the note of seats. Id imagine its simple to put seats in but what about seatbelts and the trim that supports the belts. You would be better buying a clubsport and doing an S conversion

I think its the best looking Golf VW have made. Would love one. On the Clubsport S I wonder how hard it is to fit rear seats (yes I get that defeats the idea somewhat but) ?

Hysterical!!! lol
Crack pipe being smoked again. Take it the advertiser has not seen the car three spots down for same age, miles and colour for £32k.

No. None of them do. you don't need them. Had front parking sensors on my R but very rarely paid any attention to them.
The rear sensors + camera are useful though, especially when I'm reversing into the garage.
Fitted a pedal box this week & car is going for a stage 1 map soon.....hopefully wifey won't find out.

Hi Guys, I need a bit of help with the whole Clubsport thing. I have found my Ideal car here in the UK but it was originally imported from Ireland. Is this a problem? How does the warranty thig work?
Also, it doesn't seem to have a numbered plaque on the door which I believe was a UK only thing. Is there a way of finding out what number the car is and getting one made?
Thank you all in advance.

You won't find one, as you point out the numbered plaque system only applies to genuine UK models, I don't think the Irish market cars were numbered so there's no number to find out.......unsure if you could retrospectively order a plaque from a VW dealer with no proof of it being a UK car but I'm guessing not, to be honest it doesn't bother me.Also, it doesn't seem to have a numbered plaque on the door which I believe was a UK only thing. The warranty is the standard 2 year European wide VW warranty from date of first sale (in Ireland) but you could extend it an extra year to match the standard 3 year warranty provided by VW UK, can't remember the exact cost VW quoted for that. Also no problem getting insurance with the car declared as a UK spec European import.
