Have you hooned it yet ?
Unlikely at best. I'd like to think I've never used the word 'hooned' to describe my driving style.

I'm not much of an organiser, more of a 'you organise it, and I'll turn up...' type of person

Hi Kell,
I remember you and your BMW issues from the TTF many years ago! It would appear that I tend to lurk rather than post though!

Not sure if it is of interest but we have a set of Audi 19 inch wheels with Vredestien wintrac 4 extreme tyres from our old shape Q7. We had to get new ones as they don’t fit the new shape.
Wheels are 8.5J x 19H2 and tyres are 255/55/19

My father also has a set of 18 inch as well that I need to sell, they are Audi wheels again, same tyres 255/55/18 and he had them on his Touareg. Sadly he has got Motor Neurone Disease and cant drive any more. Can find out wheel size for you if interested.

Some weird attitudes have been triggered on this thread!

We had an A6 for a while, s-line diesel. That was dull as heck and I couldn't really find anything about it that I actually enjoyed. It was sturdy and comfortable but numb. I suppose it did what it says on the tin.
We found a Q3 that we hired to be more enjoyable and can imagine a Q5 would also be more likeable than an A6. Pics look tidy anyway, and it sounds like it suits your requirements. It's one of those cars that you can just throw a family and all their holiday gear in, drive two or three hundred miles and arrive feeling fresh because it's spacious, comfortable and refined enough.

The car is described as an S-Line Plus - and I believe those wheels were part of the 'Plus' upgrade. So, an upgrade of sorts, but part of a package.

Hi Westy - I remember the username from there (seems like a lifetime ago now).

Very sorry to hear of your father's troubles, but yes I'd be interested in either set of wheels if they fit.

As I mentioned earlier Q7 wheels will not fit without hub adapters (which will also affect the offset) as the PCD is different.

Just going to leave this here for the minute, so I know where to find the info...

From a bit of research, it looks like the wheels fitted to my car are 8.5Jx20 ET 33 and from what I've read above they'd need to be PCD 5x112.

This all sound correct?

I've lost all the info from my A6 wheels, but I suspect even if they cleared the caiipers the offset is all wrong - even though the PCD is the same.

I'm pretty sure the offset is 42 on my A6 wheels.

Hi Westy,

Just been searching for more information and it looks like the offsets, PCD and centre bores are quite different between Q5s and Touareg.

Q5s are 66.5 centre bore 5x112 and 18" wheels have an offset of ET33 or ET39 depending on wheel width.

Touaregs are 71.5 centre bore, and a PCD of 5x130

18" wheels are:
8Jx18 ET53
8.5Jx19 ET59

I’ve got a set of Audi winter tyres for my A5 (17”) the wheels will fit on a Q5 (bolt arrangement and bore are the same) but the tyre size is different. I presume it will be the similar swapping from a A6 to a Q5, you’ll need new tyres on the rims.

Sorry, just read you’ve got a 3.0 (nice, by the way,), as mentioned, it will be the calipers that will be a problem. The 2.0 tdi will take 17” wheels.

So have you actually fitted your A5 wheels to your Q5?

I saw a set of A5 wheels on eBay that aren’t too far away from me, but with summer tyres on.

The offset is a little lower which I think would push the wheels further out so I was wondering if there were any issues with rubbing.

I’ve not, no, sorry. According to this website the offset is greater for a Q5, 10mm difference: https://www.wheel-size.com/size/audi/q5/2016/

I don’t know if they’ll fit with spacers as they may foul the wheel arch?

Ignore the tyre sizes that was just what those wheels were supplied with, but this calculator shows the difference.

As the A5 wheels are the same width and the offset is only 4mm less, it means they stick out just 4mm from my current wheels.

On a Q5, with its massive wheel arch gaps, it should not be a problem.

Hi Kell,
Sorry I haven’t been over to my parents yet, will go over this weekend or on Monday.

They are definitely Audi wheels that he had on the Touareg as I got both sets from Listers several years ago. Their PDI centre used to have an eBay account for spares etc.

To be honest, I’m learning a lot from this thread as I had no idea about all the different wheels, offsets etc!
Will check and let you know sizes

Ok so i’ve Had a look at the tyre pressure sticker on the door.

If it gives the pressures for 17” wheel/tyre combos on the door, does that mean 17” wheeels will definitely fit?

Also managed to get a pic of the only numbers I could see on the calipers.
