Aston Martin V8 Vantage - Clear Rear Lights n/s - Help?
Discussion
Condensation reported by dealer within my n/s clear rear light cluster causing it to fail MOT. V8 Vantage 2007. Any advice welcome as need to source a replacement light fitting as some LED's don't work correctly in existing lamp cluster. I have been quoted £850.00 for replacement - is this fair? Or can anyone help me source replacement n/s clear rear light fitting any cheaper? Your help would be appreciated as other items required, 'service bill increasing..........'
I’m told they work out cheaper if you buy a pair! Ive got some red ones ordered for my 2007 car on which both have condensation but only one has led issues at the moment.
I’m told new ones are not likely to be any more reliable but will have a 12 month warranty. At least this feature may be better on the new model. Tip is to not use power washer on them to help longevity.
Hope this helps.

Ones with problems are often not properly sealed at manufacture which is why you end up with issues. In addition, the one and only vent doesn't promote the clearing of condensation well.
I had a set that just wouldn't survive a good cleaning with a pressure washer without getting a lot of condensation in it. I even tried not to directly spray them but it didn't really help. Properly rebuilt and sealed with stack effect hydrophobic membranes worked perfectly.
Rebuilding them also allowed me to make a few choice changes like using the entire matrix for side and brake lights and changing the incandescent reverse bulb for proper LED's ....
