Was all set to order one of these in February however life got in the way.

Did a few more quotes today and spoke to the dealer. Apparently it’s a limited run car for one year only and they might not continue it next year, is this true? And they’ve upped the APR from 4.8% to 6.6%.... AND delivery quoted Jan 2019....

What should I do? Do you think they will drop the APR again later? A bit annoying they’ve upped the APR or I would’ve ordered one back in Feb. I’m in no rush, just want to keep payments bellow £140 a month with a £2.5/3k deposit.

They would have to be mad to stop making it, cracking car, barely any competitors, waiting list for a £13k car. They should stop making the other Ups and just make the Gti, for a while anyway..

The Polo bores me to tears. The Up is a complete breath of fresh air.

They dropped the initial £500 deposit contribution and 4.8% APR on the 6th March, same day as I placed my order. At the moment Bratislava can't build them fast enough and people who have ordered are facing a wait of up to 9 months for their cars, so it is understandable that there is very little incentive for VW to make it any more affordable. Drive The Deal are still showing a discount of £1080, but you'll still be stuck with the higher finance rate and stupidly long wait.

And I don't think the limited run thing is correct. UK dealers were apparently allocated 700 cars for this year, which was sold out long ago, but as far as I'm aware they're still selling allocations for next year.

In that case I think il just wait, I completely understand them dropping those incentives but hate feeling left out! laugh il wait until next year when there’ll be loads on the used market.

Amazing Value considering the base 60hp Polo is the same price as a 115 Up GTI

I think I'd rather wait 8 months than pay over list for a car that has over 1000 miles and no options bar paint.

I didn't go for the Cruise & Park pack either, although it remains to be seen whether that was wise. It's not that I can't park, more that I can't remember the last car I had that didn't have parking sensors, and it will be interesting to see how heavily I've came to rely on them!

Other than that I specced the City Emergency Braking pack (because I wanted auto headlights), climate control (mainly because I think the dash looks better with it), the Beats sound system, and height adjustment on the passenger seat. Gone for red/black, same as you. Thankfully the discount more than covered all these.

I got the cruise and park pack mainly because I'm used to cruise control on my commute and I tend to be quite ambitious with my choice of parking spaces.

Went for a red 5 door. Wasn't fussed on the black roof.

Just got the update I've been dreading. My provisional build has gone from 10th September to 15th October. Car was ordered on the 6th March.

Apparently the factory is shutting for 1-2 months due to WLTP testing.

Looks like I got lucky and just beat the shut down. Car is currently waiting for a boat in Emden.

And it’s jumped back to 10th September!

Also added the panoramic roof last week, so it remains to be seen whether that has any effect on the build date.

Text update from www.vw.co.uk this morning...

My heart rate rises..

"Volkswagen order update: Your up! order no. ######## has progressed to stage 2 of 7 (with the factory)."

Bummer, I've been stage 2 for a couple of months now. Dunno why it thinks I've progressed. I'm STUCK

What's your provisional build date? Has there been any positive movement with that?

Mine has moved a lot recently. Ordered 6th March, and was initially given b/w 34 (20/8), then it went back to 35, then 36, then 37, and then to 42!

After adding the panoramic roof it has moved to b/w 33 (13/8). Will be very happy if it stays at that as I originally wanted the car for early September.

Good to hear. After waiting 5 and a half months I’m hoping mine won’t be too long.
