Up Gti. Bargain at £13,750...?
Discussion
Just over 1k miles/6 weeks into ownership. It's a great little run about/town/supermarket car and at the same time quick and comfortable enough for motorways. Worth the wait.
It's still a rare car on the roads, yet to see another and it gets a surprising amount of looks for a cheap car. The Mrs was parked in a city centre (on pub taxi dutes) and was quized by someone about how it was to drive, how she had one so early etc.
Having owned and still own far faster more grown up cars it's funny to see how other drivers react to the little up. It's a nippy little thing and some don't seem to like being overtaken/passed.
Cheap, honest fun. Seems to sit on 50 mpg constantly.
Difficult to pick faults for the price but if I had to pick one it would be the seats. They aren't bad just a bit more support would be welcome for when your on 3 wheels around a roundabout

The airbag could be a problem. The Polo has curtain airbags, whilst the up! has airbags built into the side of the seat.
Swapping the seats would mean you've no head-height window airbag and I'm not sure insurance companies would be too keen on it.
Any updates on your build mate? My car still has “no status”, and I’ve been told the Bratislava plant is closed for a further two weeks. VW can’t seem to understand my frustration, given that I ordered well over 5 months ago, but they still can’t give me any idea when my car will be built. Very quickly turning into a total farce. They seem to be struggling. I ordered a Golf in November and was advised delivery would be March. It was eventually built in May and shipped to the port and here we are in August and it still hasn't left the port. I've asked VW chat and my dealer to explain what's going on (several times) but nobody can tell me what the problem is so the wait goes on. I'm guessing it's got something to do with WLTP but who knows?A lot of models across the VW group are suffering similar issues; WLTC certification is causing chaos and VW actually stated yesterday that there would have to be plant shutdowns. Sadly it's likely the lowest volume models that will receive the least attention in terms of getting normal volumes built.
I don't think VW are alone on this either.

Thing is, the Bratislava plant makes Cayennes, Touaregs, Q7s and the Up. So which is the highest volume model there?I don't think VW are alone on this either.
