VWFS - attitude at end of lease?

Nope, went to VW directly, because the VW lease terms state it had to be done at a VW approved bodyshop, which my insurance company (Aviva) couldn't confirm. If you have it done elsewhere and it's found at inspection then you are charged the whole amount for it to be re-done by BCA.
My now-ex (not because of the accident!) had the accident, so she paid. I initially thought it was on the steep side, but when the cost is broken down it seemed about right. New Bumper and fixings (£350), Spraying (£250) Labour (£250) Sundries such as new number plate set (because she ripped the old one off) and a parking sensor) etc. She got 3 quotes and they were all around the same.

My insurance company said I could use who I want as long as the quote is fair...
I can't imagine BCA would have charged that much...

My guess is £600...
I'll go higher for a guess at £1000. Depends if bumper is reparable or needs a new one. Also depends if BCA put down "blending in" on other door/wing, it starts adding up then.

Had BCA out yesterday. I knew 2 (maybe 3) wheels were needing redone, plus 2 areas where a smart repair had been carried out (badly!) First consisted of 3 small dents/paint damage all clustered together on the bonnet due to a stone flying up off a lorry on the motorway, and a 2cm by 1cm scuff on the back end.
Few other bits and bobs were touch and go......scratch on the windscreen right in the drivers view etc.
Took 25 minutes and final charge was £72 for both wheels. I was thinking minimum of about £250-300.
Car going back way under mileage, so BCA guy suggested (unofficially) I wouldn't get any kind of invoice through.

I had an Octavia vrs on lease from 2015-2017. The car was very well cared for and regularly detailed. The insides of the wheels were clean enough to eat your dinner off. Unfortunately a few weeks before it was due to be handed back something flicked up off the road and dented the sill, cracking the paint. I got a quote for £150+vat to repair but the garage quoting it said that you may get away with it during the inspection. I decided not to get it repaired.
Others than this and a few stone chips on the bumper/bonnet the car was immaculate. The wheels did not have a single mark on them. The tyres had loads of tread on as I used a separate set of wheels and winter tyres throughout the winter.
He put a note on my inspection report stating that the customer considers the damage to the sill as fair wear and tear because the rest of the car is in mint condition. He said they may not charge me.
Unfortunately they did charge me but it was £138 - cheaper than a repair.
The inspector told me that VW have their own standards that are very reasonable, even though they send the BVRLA leaflet out which is very strict. He said do not refurb any wheels on a VW lease car as they only charge £36 and that is if it is quite severely damaged. He told me he had just visited someone and had to charge them £36 for each wheel as they had been refurbed but it was sub standard. The refurb had cost the guy £200 which had been a waste as he was having to pay the fine anyway.
The one dissapointment regarding vwfs was that the golf I had on order (another lease deal with vwfs) had a long delay on it during build. I tried to negotiate with vwfs to ignore my excess mileage charges as a gesture of good will for there being a delay. They wouldn’t !
Also regarding buying the car, they offered me it for £14900. At the time I didn’t want to buy it as I had a new Golf GTI on order. But now with another baby here I could do with replacing the Mrs’ hatchback with a biggger more practical car. We are occasionally Missing the Octavia boot space. I’ve been looking for one for sale and they are still going for about £16k with less spec and double the mileage. Doh! :-(

For those who’ve already handed back - how far in advance of the end of the lease were you contacted to arrange the inspection ?
Mine is due back in 3 weeks but not heard yet.....
Ring BCA up and see if its on there system, i was waiting as well (trying to time it before MOT was due).Mine is due back in 3 weeks but not heard yet.....
If not keep doing it.
I had a whole issue with VW and repairs, the BCA guy said some were not acceptable at the inspection, which i did agree with when he looked, I was caught out a bit by rushing around to sort it.
I rushed around getting the repairer to fix it within the week, got it to a standard I thought was good enough based on before/after but still go invoiced as they are crafty and don't inspect the work again.
In the end VWFS had not dealt with my complaint right so i challenged this on the basis they'd breached regs and i was rather put out by the whole saga....

I called VWFS yesterday and they gave me the BCA number so now both the inspection and collection are booked in - I have some small damage (scratches caused by flying tarmac!) but I'm not going to repair it and let them charge as the accounts so far have all suggested the charges have been reasonable...If not keep doing it.

spoke to some utter fool of a phone answerer when booking in the inspection and collection. Told him it was going back in 5 weeks or so... he tries to book me in for tomorrow. No mate it needs to be nearer the end of the lease, because I've paid to have the car... so i want to use the car. Ah OK yea well we can book in for the end of June.... no again, that's past the end of the lease? oh right yea... ok well give me your email address.... 5 attempts to get him to spell it correctly. No confirmation, nothing. Had to ring up and do it again. Not fking hard is it.

Our Alltrack has a fairly big crack in the windscreen. Presume we need to get our insurers to replace and stump the excess. Has anyone handed back with a broken windscreen? Not just a chip a noticeable crack running from a pillar across bottom bit of screen...
i imagine replacement windscreen is a standard charge from the finance co so it should be easy to determine which is the cheaper option.Gassing Station | Audi, Seat, Skoda & VW | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
