Thanks for posting.

I’ve received nothing as yet, albeit from what you’ve posted, I’d expect something* similar from VW finance (appreciating they’re all based in the same place).

No mention of you having to insure it, to me, means it is not your obligation to do so.

I have just received the very same email. And as expected, no insurance requirement is expected on behalf of the customer.

The asterisk in the copy (posted above) relates to first bullet point around the vehicle but being driven.
Copy and pasted below.

  • The vehicle will be uninsured and must not be driven; Under s143 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 it is an offence to use (or permit to be used) a motor vehicle on a road or other public place when there is not in force in relation to the use of the vehicle such a policy of insurance in respect of third party risks as complies with the Road Traffic Act

Just noticed a small stone chip on my windscreen. Passenger side so not line of sight. From the damage charge sheet I think this will be a £39 repair but its not due back for another 11 months.

Wait it out hoping it doesn't get bigger, or get it sorted?

Get it sorted before it gets worse.

If its outside the 'critical area' it has to be over 40mm wide to be charged for at the end of the lease.

What were you paying at the start (for a brand new car)?

My current A4 is not due back until July. I'm looking at another non-vwfs PCH, with delivery estimated July/August but a bit unknown due to current situation.

Is the VWFS informal extension option only available if moving to another vwfs car, or available to anyone?

My A8 will be going back soon and I'm trying to asses if it's worth fixing certain things or how much VWFS will charge me.

3 wheels are damaged in some way (London and bus gates). If one alloy has a few scratches that are longer than BVRL standard, am I charged just one set of fee for it - £36? These are 21 inch alloys so plenty of space to scratch it in a few places on one alloy.

For example rear right wheel:

One wheel has more serious damage than scratch, in two places (bloody bus gates!) Do you think I will get away with it paying only standard fee or they will want to charge me for the whole alloy, which won't be cheap. I'm considering fixing it, in case they want to charge me for the cost of new alloy wheel.

Also have scratch of around 15cm/6inch on the bottom edge of front bumper. I assume it will be £110 as per panel fee?

Just had the R Estate collected have to say their charges are quite fair if you have a multi damaged panel 110 for a damaged panel down to bare metal, although he did pull up a mark on the rear bumper for 110 which I disputed as I thought it was a bit much.

Pleasant guy and glad it's rid as I thought they'd cancel due to the current situation.
Complete pot luck, had a Cupra 300 collected a few months back, bumper scuff on the corner from street parking, apart from that immaculate, I’d say needed a machine polish to get it out 100%.

Guy wrote down replacement bumper, circa £700+ - imagine how that went down.

Disputed with VWFS, straight away cleared it off, could not apologise enough to me. BCA really are an embarrassment to them.

Penelopapitstop - unlikely that you will get this stuff fixed for less than VWFS's standard fees. You also have the small risk they wont accept the repairs and you end up paying twice. I would just present the car as it is and pay what they ask so long as it conforms to their standard charges.

Do you think that the serious damage on one wheel, in two places, will still qualify as standard damage at £36?

i think it is charged per wheel but can't be sure... someone will confirm. When you say serious damage do you just mean scraping or is the wheel cracked or something

Thanks. Now have to find right time to terminate early, so I don't have to pay too much excess miles charges.

If you have already gone over your allowance then the sooner the better! So long as a replacement car on a great deal is lined up?
