Car has 28K miles on a clock, 10k per annum, in 3rd year (extension). There's 5 more months to run, so at the moment I'm around 2166 miles over the pro rata mileage. Excess is 10.8p per mile. Monthlies are £374.

To return it:
- 5 months early, it's £1028.5 + 233 = £1,261.5 (£1870 to keep until end of term).
- 4 months early, it's £822.8 + £144 = £966.8 (£1497 to keep).
- 3 months early, it's £617.1 + £54 = £671.1 (£1122 to keep)

I have second lease car with spare miles, which I use right now. It was the plan regardless of the virus, to use A8 only when 4 seats are needed or some longer trip. Other car is 2 seater. Doesn't look like I will be having passengers or driving somewhere far any time soon.

my R estate lease ends 1st May, mileage 23.5k, 2018 MY.

I had a couple of quotes to extend which were over a hundred pounds more a month, had a few quotes to buy the car - which a few weeks back were £23k.

Had it requoted end of last week and it came up £20400, so am going for that, seems pretty reasonable, similar to low-ish part-ex price according to regit

means get to avoid all the fuss over collection and I won't have to worry about the huge scuff on the console armrest from lugging loads of crap around.

anybody else looking to buy rather than hand back or extend? Presumably it is pretty straight forward, once I get the invoice I pay it and they send me the V5.

Did they get in touch with you regarding buying it? Mine's dues back in July and I was contemplating buying it even before the Corona kick off as I'm bored with PCH churn.

You can try this website 3 months before end of contract. It's BCA website: https://www.purchasemyvehicle.co.uk/

Yes, got a letter from BCA with the website link that PenelopaPItstop quoted above, or email/phone contacts.
The website is the best option, you can go there, fill all details in and it gives you a estimated quote - that is where I got all my quotes from.
When you are happy, you ask for a formal email quote and you get sent the details - mine went up £500 from the estimate.

I was wondering if could put the contract mileage rather than actual as I am 3k miles under contract (mainly due to coronovirus lockdown) - but when I checked on the final quote it seemed to make very little difference, although with early quotes it made a big difference - don't know why the difference - I guess at the minute they are looking to just get rid of stuff as easily as possible...good time to buy

Looking into it now - I've had mine 3 years in June, have done about 1000 miles less than you and was quoted £800 less, which seems about right and a little under private sale price at the moment, not that you can buy or sell a car at the moment really.

I was wondering if there's any mileage (no pun intended) in going back and making a counter offer?

They've also offered to let me carry on leasing the car for 1-6 months on the current terms.

My car is only 2 years old - if you have had yours for 3 years, I would say your quote is quite high, especially as your relative mileage is a lot less than mine.
Might be worth waiting until a bit nearer your return date see if get a better quote - not sure if that is the reason mine went down (as others from times before Covid-19 have experienced) or just because of the issues with collections due to the virus...

BCA have been good with regards buying mine at the end of lease, they even knocked a few quid off as a sweetener to sign the paperwork!

If you buy, do they inspect the car as part of the process?

Normally the inspections are done as part of the collection process (now in one session) so I doubt it.

No, I confirmed that - they have the money, they just send me the V5 now and all is done.

(So I saved myself an end of lease charge for a nasty scuff I picked up on the centre console armrest too!)

Do they base the prices they offer the car for sale at back to you on an assumed condition?

they only ask the mileage, I guess they assume the car is in a normal lease car returnable state. If you have damage, it comes off the value of the car you are purchasing, so you are essentially still paying for any damage in lost value of car - although drop in resale value of a stone chip or wheel scuff is significantly less than they would charge to fix it.

Even a blanket email to all customers outlining that they need to continue to insure cars, with refunds being made available at a later date, would be sensible.
But nope, nothing.
Even the email from BCA received today just stated they won't be collecting for at least 3 weeks.
Their helpline goes straight to a recorded "closed office" message.

Very poor business continuity planning for financial services company.
My agreement finishes on Friday. After that, it's not my responsibility as far as I see it, nor have I been told anything to the contrary.
Hi Matt, my experience so far with BCA and VWFS was that:

a) VWFS send me an email on 9th April and wrote to me offering a 6 month extension beyond my 48 month period (gulp), I filled out a form and job jobbed

b) BCA sent me a text message with a link to book an inspection appointment about a month ago via their automated website, when i clicked the link their website said no inspections due to virus, another, subsequent letter and text went out about two weeks ago asking me to rebook. VWFS said that collections would resume only after 31st May.

c) The letter from VWFS and the email stated that if i did not want to extend i should leave the car as is and not drive it. It states that the car should remain taxed but does not state insurance needs to be applied.

Hi Guys,

I have a Mk3 TT thats due to go back anytime now.
I got a garage to put an aftermarket TTRS style grille on and was told there was no way of having the original fitting back on.
Plans were to trade in but circumstances have changed and i dont need a car so wanted to hand back.
Cant seem to see where it states panel changes and with them being specialists they will definitely notice.

any and all comments would be appreciated on this.

When I was due to hand my Passat estate back, there was a gouge in the rear bumper from careless loading, I thought I could get one of those stainless scuff plates to hide it (genuine VW accessory), but when checked with VWFS they said it wasn't how the car was when delivered to me, so i would have to remove it and rectify any damage caused by removal.

I would guess you would be the same - you have to give car back as they gave it to you, either pay to rectify it yourself or pay them to rectify it. The fact it (may) be an improvement is irrelevant.

Can't believe it is impossible to put the original back on - maybe not a 10 minute bolt job, but must be possible....

I'd chance it. Doubt they'll notice. I returned a 3 series with a cheap ebay boot lip spoiler, they didn't notice.

Hi folks

Read this thread and looking for some advice. Lease is up at beginning of July and have had a good price to purchase from BCA.

The final lease payment for the lease will be Monday, I'm just wondering whether to go ahead and purchase now from BCA or to wait another month until nearer the contract end? Is the price likely to change in the next month?

Thanks

Can't answer that for your situation - but mine went down by £3k in the last month just before end of lease...but then that may have been due to the pandemic..who knows.

Hi,

Karoq was collected yesterday, there was a tear in the roof lining but no mention of it on the report I was emailed by BCA when the guy left after the inspection. Was given an A grade.

Can I expect a bill through the post or did I get away with it?

Cheers.
