VWFS - attitude at end of lease?
Discussion
VWFS tend to like same tyre manufacture and model type on same axel. So if there was an optimum 2 on one and optimum 3 on other that can be a no no.
Although my tyres are included in a lease, I go to ATS and get Michelin's. But saying that any known brand and correct rating should suffice.

Does anyone have experience of what brands VWFS class as a 'premium' tyre please? Have asked VFWS but they, quite helpfully, can't tell me what they actually class as 'premium.'
My A5 goes back in a couple of weeks and I think the front tyres are going to be on the edge of being accepted, so was going to replace with some part worns.
Why don’t you just get part worns of the same ones that were on it originally My A5 goes back in a couple of weeks and I think the front tyres are going to be on the edge of being accepted, so was going to replace with some part worns.

Are they currently legal? My A5 goes back in a couple of weeks and I think the front tyres are going to be on the edge of being accepted, so was going to replace with some part worns.
I would suggest Michelin, Continental, Pirelli, Dunlop, Bridgestone and Goodyear are the 6 main premium brands, which should see you through without so much as a sniff.
However....it is well worth noting that the Golf 8 GTi with the 19" wheel option comes with Hankook as standard from the factory.....so personally I would probably suggest that he likes of Hankook, Yokohama are probably OK to be honest....but I think I would cap it at those 8.

I know it's not definitive, but the list here https://www.tyre-shopper.co.uk/brands is probably about what you'd expect. Hankook is fitted by quite a few OEMs now.My A5 goes back in a couple of weeks and I think the front tyres are going to be on the edge of being accepted, so was going to replace with some part worns.

Just about - by 1mm or 2mm in some parts, so probably dependent on who is taking the reading and the depth gauge being used. Not sure it's worth taking the risk handing it back as they are as don't fancy paying their prices for a brand new setYeh I had planned to get them swapped and completely forgot - stupid error on my part!
VWFS only specify that the tyres have to be within the BVRLA guidelines, which state they must UK minimum requirements (1.6mm as far as I'm aware).
Mine are down to 1.7mm-1.8mm in some parts, so think I'll have to play it safe and get them changed before collection next week. Thanks for all the advice on this, especially to MattyD and Sheepshanks for the help on tyre brands.

Returned my Golf R Estate one month ago. Great condition so no charges. BCA collection was a smooth process.
Spotted the car pop up for sale at a main VW dealership at £31k a couple of weeks after that.
It’s somewhat confusing that when I logged into my VWFS account yesterday, that it says I have a missed payment and my account is in arrears by £28.5k, and this could affect my credit score of payment isn’t made.
Assume it’s an admin error at their end, tondo with the amount it sold to the dealer for. Emailed them straight away, no reply yet. Anyone had similar?
Re the missed payment, jump on it quick. We had the same issue and it held up our mortgage agreement up for 3 months until VWFS made an amendment and our credit score rectified. Admin error in their eye's, massive knock on for us!Spotted the car pop up for sale at a main VW dealership at £31k a couple of weeks after that.

the contract is unlikely to specify the legal limit as the minimum they'd accept.
Really? What do you think it will specify? I suspect it will say “capable of passing an MoT”.

Jonesy not sure why you would change them if they are still above legal minimum and the car is going back next week?
Was mainly because there's probably scope to get different readings when talking such small measurements, so didn't want to risk getting caught out on the day. I know what you mean though, part of me does want to chance it..Blown2CV said:
