Maintenance question...
S4 (via CVL), 12kpa 24month - the maintenance cost is £201.68 (initial x9) followed by 24x £25.20. TOTAL cost £801.68.
Question 1: provider is ‘Autoserve’. Is this common? Has anyone any experience of Autoserve?
Question 2: I think it’s worth it. If tyres are 125 each that’s 500 so any servicing costs over 300 and you’re in profit. Any opinions?

I had my S5 serviced and it was £258, but I had 4 quotes (only 1 under £300) with the highest being £475. Oil & Inspection. Mine is at 16000 miles and will need a set of rears soon. You will need a set of tyres in 24000 miles (if not, why get an S4) so it makes sense to me. Whether you can get acceptable tyres for £125 is another question.S4 (via CVL), 12kpa 24month - the maintenance cost is £201.68 (initial x9) followed by 24x £25.20. TOTAL cost £801.68.

At how many miles was your first service due?Marcus_a said:
I believe the S4 servIce would be due at 18k from what I’ve read?
I've just taken delivery of an S4. Somewhat annoyingly the OBC doesn't specify when the next oil service may be due so I can't tell if the service schedule has been set to long intervals or short (or whatever they call it). Inspection is shown as 2 years from now.On my previous S8, the dealer reset from short to long service internal, and this was confirmed by the OBC. How can I check they have set this on the S4?

15200 is what it ended up at. The inspection is always 19k, the oil starts there and crawls down based on how you drive it. I got both done at the same time as I don't have the car long enough for the 3800 miles to start making a difference.Harris_I said:
Also, somewhat O/T, but I'm v surprised to note the S4 is not tuned for 98 RON. Must be the first car in several years I've only had to fill with 95 RON.
It works with 95 but I am pretty sure it is tuned for 98? Im sure it says somewhere in my S5 manual to do with the better fuel.TomScrut said:

Nope - my manual refers to what the fuel filler flap says. No mention of 98 in the flap - only 95 or 91. No point putting in 98 if it's not tuned for it.That said, the manual is terrible - seems to be generic for the full A4 range.

I've just changed my Golf R for a new S4 about a month ago, I was getting roughly 30mpg in the Golf and am getting 28mpg in the S4. (and that's going from 98 in the Golf to 95 RON in the S4)
The S4 mpg may go down as I get more used to it though
I went from manual R to S5, and long term the Golf did 31mpg and the S5 is on 28.5mpg.The S4 mpg may go down as I get more used to it though

I've made the same change and can report similar mileage.. I've mostly still been putting 98 in the S4.. hadn't even noticed what it said on the filler cap The S4 mpg may go down as I get more used to it though
