Hi guys,

I'v been looking at getting something with a bit of power and would like to stick with the Audi brand, I was wandering where you think the value of the following models are heading;-

B7 RS4

2009 TTRS

2008 S5

Those are the ones that spring to mind as I'm not after anything too big or are there any others I've missed?

Thanks

I discounted the B5 as it's a bit older than I was looking at and it seems like that ship has already sailed. I guess in terms of future values its a better prospect than the ones I listed though.

What do people think of the S5? They're coming down in price, could we see values follow the e46 m3 for instance? Or are they just not that desirable.

No. Not that special. If not the B5, how about a really nice B7 RS4? Sprint blue or Misano red. Would have to be low mileage/owner for it to appreciate. The higher mileage ones of any model don't attract the people who are will to pay £££,s.

TT RS is a good shout. This was part of the reason I got the 2010 stronic version. I don't think it will go down too much compared to other cars in the price bracket.

RS2`s have been appreciating for the past three years or so, a good one now is well north of £30k, some even at £40k.

Really good ones are staying still on price and have been for a while.

Whilst there are cheaper cars (that will continue to depreciate to a point) people that want a good one are happy to pay a fair price for nice, well maintained car.

...and weirdly very late S3s have gone up slightly, recently (because you can't order one). Late, well-specified, B8 S4/5 seem to have lifted just a smidge too.

I've actually sold a couple of nice, modest mileage Avants fairly recently. The key word there being 'sold' - as opposed to sat and stared at. I honestly think 25 ish is the money for a really nice one, not the 30 that people seem to think. A lot of the really low mileage ones that crop up are very light on maintenance too (RS4s do NOT like being neglected).

I think that's fairly accurate, with an emphasis on the "look like...." bit.

The cheapest ones are Cat D write offs, high mileage, patchy history and/or in poor condition which, especially with the later, tends not to be highlighted in the advert.

For a decent one you're still looking at £40,000 plus and maybe £45,000 for a low mileage, good spec model in a desirable colour. Still worth considering IMHO though.

One hundred percent agree with this and will add that low spec and/or unpopular colours will also be drivers for the lower priced ones.

Audi A6 C6 3.0T Quattro. Only in facelift models, normally very good equipment on most of them. Same engine from the B8/B8.5 S4, albeit detuned (and therefore easily remappable). Lots knocking about in demonstrator Aventurine Blue spec, we got ours for an absolute steal wink.

Are they appreciating in value?

Original quattros.

Just spent 3 days with mine (and 10 others) driving around Scotland. Absolutely awesome real world, real road performance, and definitely appreciating.

Wanted one of these for years and finally bought one for £36k last month with 53k miles on

Simply didn't have the cash to buy a high spec one with carbon blades & low miles for £42k
Since then I have spent £1500 on the engine and several £k on a exhaust after the one that it came with turned out to be a bit of a nightmare
I didn't have it inspected as I was too excited and bought privately

It has been sitting on my drive for 3 weeks without being used whilst I wait for the new exhaust and I've been driving my mate's 1999 Yellow Alfa Sypyder 2.0 which is actually quite fun!

That is my experience of buyng a 'cheap' R8. For £42k at the time which is practically what I have now spent, I could have got one with higher spec and probably 20,000 less miles

Howerver... it is stunning, when the new exhaust is on it will be amazing (going for a valved system) and my engine work included the carbon clean which they all need doing every 30k-50k so it had quite a bit more poke after that was done. Bonnet does have quite a few chips too but in all honestly I use it on the motorway all year and it is very low so that's inevitable and doesn't bother me too much

Jakesmith - have a peek underneath the leading edge your bonnet for any paint bubbles (corrosion underneath).

If the paint hasn't already been messed around with and there IS corrosion you stand a reasonably good chance of getting a new bonnet (painted) for nowt.

They're all too new to not lose value. Get something from the 80's and it might appreciate.

That’s a great tip! Thanks. Can you recommend a good main dealer to approach if this is the case, I’m in Surrey. Have heard Camberley are good with R8’s and RS Audis and they’re local. Pm me if better

Thanks
