Audi A4 lease deals thread

Nice pics indeed. I'm intrigued to see what the gadgets are all like - things like high beam assist and the virtual cockpit system.
Any front end pics and pics of the boot would be good.
(I'm sad and want to see the space for baby-related stuff!)
Oh and can anyone who's received their car confirm that the boot has a reversible floor so that (the wife) can shove the buggy in there without ruining the carpet like she's done to our current car?

Bit of stupied question but how do you use the stronic on it as I'm a bit confused?
I've got the basics sorted two pushes up of the stick for reverse and two pushes down for D, if I use the paddles it seems to overide the auto then goes back into auto if paddles not used agaim. What about the S icon next to the D what does that do, if I pull stick down 3 times does that just put it into sport auto mode? I also noticed you seem to be able to push the stick to the left as well what does that do ? Finally the button on side of stick what does that do? I had been pushing it when I was going into drive or reverse but I noticed I don't seem to need to push it to do this so wondered what it does.
Cheers
Can’t answer all your questions as my car hasn’t arrived yet but usually if you push the lever to the left then use the paddles it’ll stay in manual and not go back into auto. Otherwise it’ll revert to auto after a few seconds.I've got the basics sorted two pushes up of the stick for reverse and two pushes down for D, if I use the paddles it seems to overide the auto then goes back into auto if paddles not used agaim. Car arrived yesterday while I was out at work all day. Haven't had a chance to drive it at all yet but I jumped in and had a poke around at about 10pm last night. Seems like a lovely place to sit and all the tech will take a bit of time for me to acclimatise to - simple things like access to radio station shortcuts etc. aren't the easiest to work out.
Other observations:
1. Seats aren't at all electric, they're manual with electric lumber support.
2. I'll need to fiddle with the settings as the mirrors now don't fold when I lock the car. Presumably as I've set up my profile in the car.
3. Boot is quite a bit smaller than on the Octavia hatchback, but it'll be adequate.
4. Door apertures are quite a bit smaller than the Octavia which will be handy in tight parking spots.
5. Boot wouldn't open manually when I had the car unlocked with the driver's door open. Probably another setting I need to change. Didn't even open electrically with the fob at that point until I closed the door and locked the car.
6. It looks bloody smart. Very pleased in general. Looking forward to seeing how it drives.

Does anyone know whether there's a setting to make the nearside wing mirror dip when reversing? I found it really useful on the Octavia to avoid kerbing wheels...
Not tried it but had a google and suggests it only works on passenger side and you have to select that mirror and its dips when you select R. Still enjoying the car at the moment. Although using the nav to select a postcode is nigh on impossible - seem to have to input road and then house number instead. Weird.

Nor mine. Loving the car but I don't find the auto gearbox a little sluggish having used the ZF8 in a BMW this isn't a patch on it.
How's everyone else finding the car?
I'm recalibrating my driving style to get used to the slightly laboured acceleration from a standstill - requires more gas than my previous car to make it get a move on initially. It's also a novelty having hill hold which makes it a little odd just stopping and being able to take your foot off any pedals. How's everyone else finding the car?
I still can't get my head around the nav system though - it just doesn't recognise postcodes whatsoever if you type them into the search box. I'll need to read some more documentation to understand how it works. I also can't seem to just be parked on my drive and tell the nav that my current location is my home address. PRobably user error but it's not a very intuitive system. I've got a longer drive in the car on some motorways tomorrow so I'll see how I get on then and will report back with my thoughts.

Anyone had flickering issue with the big main screen? Mine has done it a few times now always seems to be when I turn off car the screen will flicker constantly and stay on only way to sort it is restart car then switch off again. Thought it one off but seems to happen quiet often.
Not seen that issue myself, but I'm still having issues with the nav - it's just no good at searching for postcodes. Will see how I get on, otherwise I'll just use Waze on carplay but then it doesn't show on the instrument cluster which is annoying. The radio also has a weird issue where if I prod the radio shortcut button and accidentally then press the current station I'm already listening to (very easy to have fat fingers when using a touchscreen rather than iDrive style wheel) the station will then go silent and loses reception. Drives me mad!
Popping back to this thread to share a couple of strange / annoying occurences in the last two weeks. Anyone else had similar?
1. Driving down to a friend's new house round the M25 the whole instrument cluster decided to reset itself (as in turn off completely so all screens went black and rebooted). I didn't think it was the end of the world as it rebooted pretty quickly. The really ste thing though is that when on the move on the motorway, we couldn't input our destination into the sat nav - it wouldn't understand the post code via voice recognition and it wouldn't let my wife (who was in the front passenger seat) to manually enter the destination as we were moving! An example of when someone's created a 'safety feature' which cocks up usability in the real world. Annoyingly, Waze via Car Play also wouldn't let us enter a destination either as we were moving!
2. After dropping off my daughter at nursery, I was pootling along in rush hour traffic past the school where she goes, only for the car to slam on the brakes for no reason whatsoever. A big red 'Audi pre-sense' warning popped up on the dash, so evidently it thought I was going to hit something (even though there wasn't a car in sight in front of me, nor any other obstructions!) Thankfully the car behind me was quite far back otherwise I'd have been rear ended. Ridiculous.
Apart from those two 'situations' I'm enjoying the car. It's a very nice bit of kit and bonkers value for money.

I’ve had the pre sense happen twice you can change the sensitivity of the pre sense in the settings.
It still does it on the lowest setting. It is quite irritating!Interesting thread over on the Audi Sport . net forum about this very issue. Makes for interesting reading. I'll be keeping my wits about me!

Just had an email from ALD Automotive (lease company for my A4 Avant), telling me there's a recall and I need to book my car in at my local dealer to be rectified for free.
Anyone else had similar? Any ideas what the recall is for? Audi pre-sense gremlins perhaps? (It has slammed the breaks on once for me and also the wife for no reason!)

Morning.
I posted a separate thread but perhaps in here is the best place to ask.
Looking at replacing my leggy Merc 250 CDI for an A4 Avant (the 40 TFSI 204 sport s tronic to be exact)
Not convinced that getting a large diesel car for another 3-4 years is the way to go.
Power seems similar to the Merc but obviously torque will be a little lower.
Is the 40 engine sufficient or does it feel a little underpowered? (I expect the 35 version would, any owners comments on these very appreciated). Obviously I'm not expecting RS4 performance but dont want something that feels lethargic.
Also anyone who has the S Tronic how do you find these?
Thanks
I'm running the 35 TFSI in s-tronic guise and I was hesitant before I went for the deal as I'd run a 1.4 TFSI manual A4 back in 2016 which was long geared and felt sluggish. I posted a separate thread but perhaps in here is the best place to ask.

I've been pleasantly surprised with the 35 s-tronic version - ok it's not going to tear your skin off but in dynamic mode with gearbox in sport mode it's pretty sprightly and does the job nicely as a family car. I definitely wouldn't say it feels really slow. The pick up can be a little hesitant at first if gearbox is in normal drive mode but if you want to avoid it then sport mode helps.
In terms of the s-tronic gearbox, I've been impressed. It's seamless and I've not had any issues. A vast improvement on the manual that I had previously in terms of driveability and staying in the powerband of the engine more effectively.
I'm sure the 40 TFSI would be even one step further on with 50bhp more.

Thread bump! How's everyone getting on with their A4's?
I'm still sub 6k miles on the clock which makes me pleased I didn't take a bigger allocation (originally worked on the assumption I'd pay the extra as previously did 12k p/a)! One service late December as Audi called me suggesting it although to this day not sure I needed it as it never appeared on the dash?
It goes back in less than 6 months and currently struggling like mad to find a suitable replacement for anywhere near a similar price. Spoke to ALD, who despite their poor reviews and sentiment on here, found really helpful.
They won't extend formally, but offered up to 90 day informal extension at the average daily cost of the total lease. I have the 40TSI with optional grey, which makes it £9.23 p/day, or £270 odd p/month. No commitment and if I get something new in that time they only charge for days until agreed pick up. I also pushed him on how rigid that 90 days is, and sounded like they'd flex further if you needed given current climate!
All in all, think I'll roll this to March until I can find a reasonable X3 / F pace / XC60 for less than £400 p/month with a spec worth having!!
Getting on ok with my 35TFSI Avant. Onl slight bugbear is the throttle delay from a standing start which is irritating. I've found I just knock the gearbox into sport mode when approaching junctions / roundabouts to counteract this.I'm still sub 6k miles on the clock which makes me pleased I didn't take a bigger allocation (originally worked on the assumption I'd pay the extra as previously did 12k p/a)! No idea what I'm going to do when this lease ends. Deals are so so poor at the moment. I'm hoping something will pop up in the next few months otherwise I'll do the same as you and informally extend the deal until the new year in the hope that a bit more time will give more chance of a deal to arrive!
Ideally I'd love a 6 cylinder BMW estate but chances of that are slim!

Blimey, how much does the two year service cost?! I'll need to look at this approach too if it's a bonkers price!
They only wanted £129 to early terminate I was surprised.Stu-nph26 said:

No Have not contacted or spoken to them.
Jaymo above has and ALD have hinted at an extension of up to 90 days.
I just rang ALD the automatically offer a 90 day extension works out about £290 a month but I can cancel it at any point in the 90 days. Jaymo above has and ALD have hinted at an extension of up to 90 days.
I also asked about returning the car early and there’s be no additional charge.
Does anyone know if the 19s on the black edition are diamond cut alloys?
They said they’d be £90 a wheel or £55 for standard which I though was reasonable. Managed to get the prices in an an email aswell just in case there’s a dispute when I return the car.
Hopefully this is helpful they ALD were really good over the phone

The wife curbed two wheels too. Not too badly, but good to hear ALD seem like they're not brutal on the charges. Not quite as good as VWFS though which charge £36 per wheel.
