I’ve recently had 2 of mine done by these chaps: https://dwv.co.uk/

It was through the alloy wheel insurance so can’t tell you what it cost, the fella did a very good job.

Thanks bit far from me in Hertfordshire area, I found a few locally that have good reviews one place Bespoke Alloys Denham 15min from me. One thing though is I don't really want to leave my car on sure for 3 days, some mentioned possibly lending me wheels while they repair mine, I'm happy to do that but would rather just have them take off the wheel being repaired, as long as the alloy and tyre they supply is the same size as others on the car I'm I good or do all 4 need to same alloy.

The good thing about the outfit that did mine was that they came to me in a mobile repair van and did them on the drive. The advantage of working from home!

I’ve got a set of winter wheels that would fit your car you could have borrowed if you were closer.

Just had an email from ALD Automotive (lease company for my A4 Avant), telling me there's a recall and I need to book my car in at my local dealer to be rectified for free.

Anyone else had similar? Any ideas what the recall is for? Audi pre-sense gremlins perhaps? (It has slammed the breaks on once for me and also the wife for no reason!)

If it’s a petrol there’s a recall due to a risk that the alternator catches fire.

There is a camera software update available also, get them to do that, it is supposed to resolve software faults if you’ve had any.

Will be to replace the alternator as fire hazard, had mine done 6 weeks ago.

I called my local dealer and it is indeed the alternator issue. Booked in for later this month when they have the part in stock.

Are the build times still crazy for new lease deals? Has anyone taken out a lease on one of the 2020 mild hybrid models lately?

Morning.

I posted a separate thread but perhaps in here is the best place to ask.

Looking at replacing my leggy Merc 250 CDI for an A4 Avant (the 40 TFSI 204 sport s tronic to be exact)

Not convinced that getting a large diesel car for another 3-4 years is the way to go.

Power seems similar to the Merc but obviously torque will be a little lower.

Is the 40 engine sufficient or does it feel a little underpowered? (I expect the 35 version would, any owners comments on these very appreciated). Obviously I'm not expecting RS4 performance but dont want something that feels lethargic.

Also anyone who has the S Tronic how do you find these?

Thanks

I'm running the 35 TFSI in s-tronic guise and I was hesitant before I went for the deal as I'd run a 1.4 TFSI manual A4 back in 2016 which was long geared and felt sluggish.

I've been pleasantly surprised with the 35 s-tronic version - ok it's not going to tear your skin off but in dynamic mode with gearbox in sport mode it's pretty sprightly and does the job nicely as a family car. I definitely wouldn't say it feels really slow. The pick up can be a little hesitant at first if gearbox is in normal drive mode but if you want to avoid it then sport mode helps.

In terms of the s-tronic gearbox, I've been impressed. It's seamless and I've not had any issues. A vast improvement on the manual that I had previously in terms of driveability and staying in the powerband of the engine more effectively.

I'm sure the 40 TFSI would be even one step further on with 50bhp more.

Great, thanks for that. There doesn't seem much difference in cost on finance deals between the 35 and 40.

I'd go for the 40 then if that's the case. My 35 was based on a bonkers lease price on a stock car with metallic paint. The 40 stock cars were just a bit too much than I wanted to pay at the time.

I got the 40tfsi 69 plate so was 190bhp think they are now 204bhp, anyway 190bhp fast enough only thing that lets it down is the slow auto box even in sport its not brilliant, I think I would of regretted getting the 35tfsi if I had got that. Deals were good back then Nov 2019, I paid £219 a month on a BE avant with 6 months down, 5k miles.

That’s not bad, my first service cost £360!

A week shy of 1 year now. What mileage are you guys on who are getting the A4 service? I’ve only done 5k nothing has flagged up yet regarding service.

We did get the recall done earlier on this year.

I’ll probably switch wheels front to back soon. Been happy motoring thus far.

Thread bump! How's everyone getting on with their A4's?

I'm still sub 6k miles on the clock which makes me pleased I didn't take a bigger allocation (originally worked on the assumption I'd pay the extra as previously did 12k p/a)! One service late December as Audi called me suggesting it although to this day not sure I needed it as it never appeared on the dash?

It goes back in less than 6 months and currently struggling like mad to find a suitable replacement for anywhere near a similar price. Spoke to ALD, who despite their poor reviews and sentiment on here, found really helpful.

They won't extend formally, but offered up to 90 day informal extension at the average daily cost of the total lease. I have the 40TSI with optional grey, which makes it £9.23 p/day, or £270 odd p/month. No commitment and if I get something new in that time they only charge for days until agreed pick up. I also pushed him on how rigid that 90 days is, and sounded like they'd flex further if you needed given current climate!

All in all, think I'll roll this to March until I can find a reasonable X3 / F pace / XC60 for less than £400 p/month with a spec worth having!!

Getting on ok with my 35TFSI Avant. Onl slight bugbear is the throttle delay from a standing start which is irritating. I've found I just knock the gearbox into sport mode when approaching junctions / roundabouts to counteract this.

No idea what I'm going to do when this lease ends. Deals are so so poor at the moment. I'm hoping something will pop up in the next few months otherwise I'll do the same as you and informally extend the deal until the new year in the hope that a bit more time will give more chance of a deal to arrive!

Ideally I'd love a 6 cylinder BMW estate but chances of that are slim!

My 67 V6 215 DSG is 6 months away from end of lease. Spent the last few weeks planning replacement. Sitting on 70k and has been mechanically faultless, but a lifetime 34mpg is pretty pants for a diesel.

I can’t live with the auto box any longer. Incredibly delayed reverse/d shifts are excruciating when three-pointing at school drop off, but not as dangerous as the auto brakes. Dealer have tried three times to rectify, but still it randomly emergency stops when passing pedestrians on footpaths adjacent to narrow roads.

Still looks very pretty in Black spec.

Replacing with Octavia vRS petrol manual estate. Same quality, much more practical (bigger all round), just as pretty and way more kit. Nice people at Skoda too. Excited when it finally arrives in 25 weeks!
