I’m sorry if this is the wrong area to ask but I didn’t know what this would come under...

I’ll Admit I’m clueless with cars so I could be told any price and if I can afford it I’d pay it so would be so grateful some advice

I have been quoted £499 for a reverse camera and £300 for parking sensors on my Audi a1 sport. One of my brothers who is really in to cars said that’s too expensive and the other one who
Knows nothing but has nice cars said “it’s good that”

Does anyone have an idea what I should be being quoted for this?

Full retrofit like it was from the factory using audi parts?
Or generic add ons?

Makes a huge difference in my opinion.

Challenge whoever says it was too dear to show you where to get it done cheaper!

There are lots of places that retrofit stuff to Audi/ VAG cars, search for them on the web.
I'm assuming those prices are for Audi genuine parts ?
If so, look about right

OP
Try posting in the Audi section, probably more relevant.

Hi and thanks for responses, honestly I don’t understand what the differences are so I’ll post what the people who quoted me said (I’ve deleted the link and their name)

Hi, yes the parking sensors are not a problem.
The factory style flush fits are £298 inch vat fitted and colour coded.
There isn’t a factory option for the A1 for reverse camera but we can fit a 3rd party product which works well for £449 inc vat.
Hope this helps

Sorry park aids are £294
There’s also a slightly less expensive option on our website if you’re not to bothered about they looks of the sensor.

I then asked them about the loudness as I’d read about people getting them retrofit and it being put against some felt and it being muffled and this was their response.

No problem. Yes you are welcome to come to us. Just let me know when you decide a date.
The sensors are what are supplied to Audi parts department when they fit them as an aftermarket solution and are 100% reliable.
We have fitted these sensors for about 20 years for private customers and for Audi dealers through out the Northwest of England. We are so confident in them that we offer a 3 year warranty on them.
The sounder is loud enough for most people with normal hearing but can be made louder if required. ( normally older people with poor hearing want it louder)
Hope this helps.

I think it sounds great myself, I genuinely thought it would cost around £1200. My older brother is really picky, wants something for nothing kinda person though so don’t know if he’s just trying to make me worry. Sorry it’s long!

You might shop the world and get the items £50 cheaper or you might get a really good price and the product or the fitting turns out to be rubbish.

If you are in the North West then AV Solutions in Heywood / Bury are good value and good quality.

I’m in Doncaster frown so this Place would be 2 hours away from me, I think I’m mostly just worried what
If I had it done and it affected something in the car like electrics? But if they have all those years experience they’d have been out of business a long time ago if they were breaking peoples electrics . Wish I knew someone closer to home but

I'd be wary on this, some of the aftermarket solutions I've seen have been really cheap and crap looking.

I suggest trawling the interweb more. Are there any A1 forums? Any vids on youtube showing how/where the camera and sensors are fitted? How well the system works? Some of them might have links to fitters?

Do you really need sensors and a camera on an A1? It's not like there's four metres of car sticking out behind you.

I paid circa £500 to retrofit a rear view camera to my Mk7 Golf, but that was a complete original equipment kit that required running wiring right to the front of the car.

Sticks.

I looked at getting a reversing camera retrofitted to my TT via the company the dealership recommended. From memory it was, or would've been £1100.

I have used the following company before to code stuff on my S1. I think they retrofit for allot of the dealers. Your prices do not look too far off..
