1.8t Über alles or options?
Discussion
Hi, new to VAG engines.
I´m planning a mid-engine build using either the 01E 2wd box or the 012 box I have bought.
Was going to mate it to a Honda K-series, but I´m contemplating just slapping a VAG engine on it that fits the bolt pattern, and save some time and money for now.
As it seems, the 1.8t 20v would be the obvious choice, but I am also looking at the V6 options.
What I am after is a responsive engine since its going in a sub 1000kg chassis. And the 1.8t seems like its a bit "lazy", more suitable for midrange than wizzing about.
The power level is not that important, around 250hp would be enough, its more the sense of occasion I´m chasing, NA or turbo makes less of a difference.
Are there any smaller displacement free-revving engines available ? Are there any V6 alternatives that would make sense?
Or will I just have to settle with the IMO boring character of a chip-tuned passat?
Thanks
Nick
