Hi all! Hope someone can help...

For anyone who doesn't want to read the whole thing, basically when releasing the clutch stationary (engine on only) there is a slight clunk coming from the engine bay!

Car is a seat Leon 2013-2017 (non face lift)

Soooo
I previously had a seat leon 2.0tdi cr150 (end of 2013 year) and when releasing clutch there was a audiable clunk from the engine area, which was always there, not to loud and nothing serious I didn't think. Did get a little louder as time went on from 54k to 83k over 3-4 year's. You could slightly hear it when changing gear if you was trying to hear it, but you really did have to try and only when windows open and low gears. I took this to garage when I first got it (under warrenty) and they told me it was normal but there after sales service wasn't good.

Anyway I don't do many miles now so upgraded to a petrol 1.8 tsi 66 plate seat Leon (end of 2016, not facelift). I've noticed a similar clunk but alot quieter, in fact I didn't notice it until I turned radio off and tried to hear it, the whole engine is quiet in comparison to the previous car! Car has 60k miles on the engine.

Both cars have full service history. And are both ex business use! I don't know weather this is normal?

Just wanted some advice before spending a fortune on a car which just cost me a fortune.

Thank you for any help

Dual mass flywheel could be the cause if this is starting to fail.

Thank you for your input!

Is this something I should get done soon or wait for it to get a bit worse like other car? Unless it fails I doubt warrenty will cover it!

(I know letting the dmf actually fail can damage other parts, so I mens wait for it to vibrate and make a bit more noise)

As above it will be the DMF beginning to show signs of wear.

The DMF in my car is a bit clunky at 143k miles, I have just left it as it isn't making a metallic clunk and the clutch isn't quite dead. When the clutch dies I will change the DMF as the work to get to flywheel is the same as replacing the clutch.

I would wait and get it sorted when the clutch needs changing unless the symptoms suddenly get worse.

Also worth checking the engine mounts are okay.

Okay thank you! I'll wait. I don't know much about cars, but I always panic over small things tbh!

I heard it can take out gear box if dmf fails, but I doubt the clutch will Go much longer at 65k?

I have also noticed the car very very slightly vibrates for a couple of secs every 15 secs or so when stationary, foot on clutch/brakes. Only very slight and if foot not on clutch/brakes, I've not noticed it.

I've checked engine mounts as best I can, tried wobbling engine, it didn't wobble, and looked at top mounts (however many they're are) and they both looked fine!

Thank you again for your input

Hi all, incase this helps anyone, now or future readers, I have an update.

My car is currently having an mot and service, so I've got a 1.0 skoda fabia, 2019, only 472miles on it (imagen hard miles being courtesy car) , this also sometimes makes a clunk when releasing foot off clutch and engine on, may just be something in vw engines!

Again it isn't loud, but if you listen for it once youll notice it every time as its not a noise you'd expect!
