I wonder if we will be able to upgrade to the latest software as seen on the MY23 refresh picture below:

Also looks like they have improved materials on centre console and door.

Feedback on fuel economy!
Business trip to London area today and that’s just over 200 miles each way for me…. Going there in eco and kept below speed limits for the most part… coming back moved to sport ( gearbox and suspension) and pushed on as much as possible ;-/
Result using same route there and back 40.4 mpg there and 40.9 mpg coming back …. Sport seems to be more economical than eco ???
Either way I’m happy with that and found the tourag very comfortable and able, it certainly shifts when needed but at the same time so quiet and comfortable

I think the comments about these being very underrated cars is spot on. The grey and black one looks amazing!

Just ticked over 40,000 miles in 28 months of ownership, car has been completely faultless and top notch throughout. They are a pleasure to drive and a great workhorse.

Have a Q7 Black edition due next month as a replacement so I'm intrigued to see how that fairs in comparison, gone for the V6 Petrol as oppose to the TDI in the touareg. Sadly isn't nearly as equipped as the Touareg Black Edition but couldn't turn down the deal at the time.

Touareg facelift looks promising - aside from the illuminated rear VW badge, not sure what they're thinking with that one!

Glad you liked it!
And yes also completely agree - these are such underrated cars - seem to be best of both worlds between an A6 Allroad and LR Disco.
Am getting similar 40mpg on fast-ish cruise.
Also can’t believe how much these things shift (282 tdi) - effortless pace coming out of dual carriageway roundabouts !! One third throttle and whoosh - bye bye annoying tailgater in the review mirror! Still not run in yet - c750 miles - but am opening it up more and maintaining higher revs.

Interesting article below, not so much about axing the R but numbers of Touaregs sold in general in decline, not only underrated but apparently becoming a rare beast !

Trying to work out of its worth getting tyres included in lease from VWFS @ £15pm (£540). My deal is 8k pa 36m. Bridgestones are £300 a corner. So is the Touareg likely to need new tyres in 24,000 miles.

Any experience on this?

Will depend some on types of journey driven but I’d say given weight and 4 wheel drive odds are you’ll need new rubber at some stage if you do upto 24k… do they replace at around legal minimum or once tyre reaches 3mm or below which is typically recommended ?

sounds a good way to budget if nothing else…
I handed my 840i back at 19k and they were all around 2mm tread left to help give an idea. They were shod on Pirelli same as my current touareg - not Bridgestone

My Touareg has arrived now, only took 22 months. On Pirelli P Zeros thought they were typically on Bridgestones. Not sure if they are a softer compound as they are more of a sports tyre. Anyway will be adding on maintenance and tyres to lease next week.

The decline in sales might be caused by VW not being able to build the things. The lead times reported by many on here are ridiculous.

Congrats! First impressions and a pic would be great!

My first one was on Pirellis and this second one is Bridgestones. Couldnt really tell much difference to be honest although generally I am not a fan of Bridgestones (the ones on my GTI CS are loud!)

Car arrived in the snow last week. Wasn't expecting to be using the heated steering wheel, heated seats and snow drive mode so soon. Simon do you have a view on tyre wear, how many miles have you managed to get out of the tyres?

I will be providing a full review and more photos in the coming weeks.

Initial thoughts....looks fantastic (lots of presence without showing off), great tech, great boot space (especially handy having the underfloor storage), rear wheel steering makes manoeuvring easy, young kids liking the ambient lighting (pink). Only negative is the gearbox is a little lacklustre at low speeds, fine once going.

What driving modes are people using, tried a run on eco and got 35mpg which is not to bad on new engine in low temps.

Tyre wise my previous black edition on Pirellis went back with 15k on and the front tyres still had just under 4mm on and the rears comfortably over 5mm

Congratulations! Glad you are enjoying it!
Regards mpg, did an airport pickup in steady and sometimes congested traffic last weekend, in comfort mode got 41mpg, crusing at just above legal limit due to all the cameras. Was impressed with that - now has just over 1000miles on the clock. My (colder) B road commute with rounder-bouts and some city congestion can dip to 33mpg.
Had started out using Eco mode more, but the last cold snap had me reaching for Comfort mode to get the cabin warmed up a bit quicker. Mpg seems ok as long as you don’t boot it too much.

Has anyone noticed the cooling fan staying on after switch off? It’s happened a few times now, in varying conditions and after both fast and slow drives; wondered if it was part of the running in process or Cat regeneration. If anything I have run it in too slowly/not varying the revs enough.
Thoughts?

You might be right there. We have just passed 2000 miles and I haven't heard the fan when getting out of the car recently.

Have just past 16k miles and after a 45 mile run the other day the fan was running for well over 5 mins, but is does not always do this.

I asked VW finance for a quote in reducing my Touareg lease total mileage of 30k down to 20k….. quote came back more than I’m paying at the moment which I didn’t anticipate. Possibly a result of higher interest rates and lower residual values ? Needless to say I’m sticking with what I have.

You can request another quote in 30 days - worth doing it to see what the random number generator at VWFS spits out. I might be showing my age here but some of the month on month variations I have seen in lease extension quotes makes me think they have Bertha doing the quotes.
