I'm having a nightmare of a time trying to get something sorted.

Most people I've spoken to automatically assume that the B9 RS4 cannot legally tow - the same, I think, as previous RS4 models. However, this is no longer correct.

These cars are now plated to tow (2100kg I think?) and, for non-DRC cars, Audi will fit tow equipment as an option.

Unfortunately, mine is a DRC-equipped model. In fact, I don't think there's many options NOT ticked!

So - does anyone know of ANY B9 RS4, with DRC, and a removable towbar fitted. I just want to hook up a bike rack (can't use roof-mounted, bikes are Giant E-bikes, so weigh too much to lift up) safely, without having to opt for one that hangs off the back - because, even with those, I'd need electrics and would potentially foul sensors etc.

HELP!!!!

if its anything like the C7 S/RS6, they can only tow if on air due to the position of the DRC control module being where the towbar goes.

Hey, did you get anywhere with this? I am about to buy an RS4 with DRC and am getting conflicting info.

I think the factory swivelling bar can't be fitted because it would swivel in to the DRC accumulators. But I don't know if they are attached to the factory crash bar, and if putting a new crash bar on to fit a detatchable tow bar would work?

Trying to get clarity from the dealer and indepentant fitters.

I've not got anywhere yet. frown

I found somewhere down in Worthing that's happy to take a look, but that's a long way from me!

Unfortunately not.

I trekked out to Bristol to see these guys last year and they took the car apart to start fitting, but then couldn’t finish. This was before I put this original post on PH and I chose them
As they’d installed on an RS4 before.

They told me that the westfalia parts were changing and that tow trust ones they were using instead didn’t fit - but what I actually think happened is that they had only previously fitted to a non-DRC car before, and didn’t want to be honest with me - so they strung me along with a story unless I eventually asked for a refund.

So this is still unresolved. Still looking for somewhere to work on a DRC equipped RS4.
