2015 VW/Seat 1.2 cyl non turbo - common issues?
Discussion
Hi all,
Are there any common issues with the 1.2 3cyl non turbo engines? Circa 2015
Asking on behalf of someone else who is having issues diagnosing an engine check light and lumpy running. Oxygen sensor replaced but with no success. One garage says it's a burnt valve and the other says failed injectors.
Many thanks
Matt

If your friend is paying actual money to either garage they need to consider stopping that. Both those "guessed" faults are easy to diagnose without throwing parts at it.shtu said:

Hi Shtu Thanks for the reply I will get the codes soon
Does anyone have any recommendations for a VAG specialist in Hampshire/Southampton?
Many thanks
Matt
Hi Shtu,
First reading - misfire on cyl 1,2,3
Gave it a bit of revs and the roughness cleared. Cleared the fault code and repeated. After a few more attempts revving the fault code came back but just on cyl 1

Went out on a test drive and all running okay, until I planted my foot and EPC and engine warning light came on - car in limp home mode
Turned it off and restarted. Epc and engine light not illuminated. Was able to accelerate hard maybe 5 times before the EPC and engine management light came on again.
The car felt fine when the EPC and engine management light weren't on - pretty slow but it is a 1.2 70bhp engine with tall gearing. No odd noises or anything rough.
