Carwow drag race has the 8r dipping under 4 secs to 60.
For the price (including seemingly readily available discounts) there is probably not much to touch it for performance to £ and seems to be a step forward from the previous gen dynamically also.
Discounts seem to have dried up a bit on the R but freely available on the Clubsport around £3 £4k.For the price (including seemingly readily available discounts) there is probably not much to touch it for performance to £ and seems to be a step forward from the previous gen dynamically also.
I was really interested but my spec came out at around £43k so looking for a 2019 pre power reduction model for alot cheaper.

I got a quote via Carwow around a month ago which pretty much matched the discounts available through Drivethedeal - around £5k off a standard car. I was really interested but my spec came out at around £43k so looking for a 2019 pre power reduction model for alot cheaper.

wonder if ones been stolen yet
Do people never get embarrassed continually posting this tripe?Looking at the pictures and spec, I wouldn't go for new model. Awful seats, not heated as standard, poor spec, etc. I ordered Formentor based on good equipment and reasonable parameters. I'm not into SUVs and never wanted one, but this car seems ok to me. I'm collecting it on weekend and will be able to say if I regret it or not in couple of months. New tech might be annoying, but it's the same one as in Golf.

The best i got offered on a specced car with carwow was 4% around £2k I also like to have the option of buying my leased vehicles at the end , dont get that chance with some of the leasing companies.

As I say, it was a month or so ago that I got the quote. The quote for my spec at that point was around £37.5k, checking now they are now quoting just north of £40k.I also like to have the option of buying my leased vehicles at the end , dont get that chance with some of the leasing companies.
DTD are still quoting the same discounts.

Anyone dyno'd one yet to find out true bhp? VW upto their old tricks again!
I can't bear to click the video but I hear the very excitable chap on YouTube with one, made 340bhp. I'm loathed to watch AHR videos too, but this one was quite interesting, particularly with regard to the gearing, which is basically responsible for its ridiculous drag race results.

I would also look at the Cupra Formentor for the same money . Very different and highly rated in the reviews?
It’s an SUV not a hatchback. If I wanted a small suv then I might consider the cupra. But I don’t need one and so the handling compromises etc aren’t necessary for me. I’d take the golf. ajap1979 said:

Rolling road figures are pretty meaningless
I'm going to choose not to bite on this one, Its Friday and i'm in a good mood.ajap1979 said:
340ps and 440nm, so 20ps and 20nm over the stated figures, and that was on a car with 150 miles on it. I'd like to see a comparison though, because the DMS rolling road is reported to be a bit optimistic.

Not a big fan of AHR vids either but likewise found what the DMS chap said about the ratios interesting, sounds like VW's engineers have spent alot of time optimising these along with the software to keep everything plum in the power band. Not a big power car so makes the drag figures all the more impressive.I'm loathed to watch AHR videos too, but this one was quite interesting, particularly with regard to the gearing, which is basically responsible for its ridiculous drag race results.

Formentor with the same engine as the 8R was dyno'd at 327bhp, 17bhp higher than VW/Seat/Cupra claim.
Interesting - where/who did this?They are 310PS/306BHP, so that’s a 21bhp gain!
I’m collecting mine next week - I too am intrigued as whether the power uplift is across the EA888 patch...
