CCZA 2.0TSI engine Hella MAF

Has anyone fitted the hella MAF from GSF car parts? Original unit is hitachi.

whats wrong with current MAF?

Throws code p0172 occasionally

Occasionally won’t start or idle without revving engine and stinks of fuel…. Too rich

Won’t be the maf sadly.

Needs old school diagnostics, checking the fuel pumps etc. the big worry is the smell of petrol.

How can you be sure it’s not the MAF? It happens in such an intermittent manner it lines up with a dodgy sensor.

A trusted mechanic suggested the MAF, it seems to fit the scenario

Problem on start up has become more consistent. I managed to pop the hood and disconnect the MAF just in time this afternoon. The engine smoothed out, so fairly sure it’s the culprit. Have ordered the hella MAF from GSF.

Fitted the hella MAF yesterday.

Started the engine and it wasn’t perfect, I then cleared the DTC code. Revs rised and smoothed out.

It’s been fine since, having started it 10 times hot, warm, cold.

Think it’s the culprit!

Just need to rip the rattling exhaust heat shield off now!
