Hi, I'm currently looking at a car to buy for myself.
It's an automatic 2009 mk6 1.4 TSI imported from Japan (into UK) with really low mileage at 29k.
Everything is verified with documents and history from both Japan and uk (came in December 2023).
Ive test driven and looked at it the cars really clean and looks brand new. I've read that these Japanese imports are often really well kept and legit, so im contemplating on buying it. The only issue is everyone is telling me that these engines are unreliable, which i understand, but I'm assuming only if it's poorly kept and at high mileage? The cars going for 4.7k so if anyone has any advice on whether I should buy it or not please let me know!

Bear in mind the radio may have issues, unless they've changed the DAB/FM unit.

Or content yourself with Radio 2.

Japan don't salt their roads, so they tend to last longer than European cars.

The 1.4 TSI is OK if looked after. A friend has a manual 2009 and that has well over 100K on it with no problems. At 29K, you certainly have nothing to worry about, just keep on top of the maintenance.
