Standing at LHR T3 this morning waiting for my pickup. Watching all the cars come and go (always entertaining with regualars and numpties mixing it). I saw many exec taxi service cars come and go. Only one stood out - Audi A8 in a lovely minky silver colour. Wow. All the Mercs and BMWs paled into insignificance against this beasty.

Audi definitely know how to make a lovely looking big barge.

Might hold onto my A6 a little longer and pick up an early new shape 3.0TDi A8

What kind of MPG did it see in normal mixed driving? Did you think it was a good motor?

On a motorway I saw 42-44 on the dis round town, 28-32 round town. it was chipped though and fuel economy went up after chipping (as most diesels do, strange I know).

An Audi dealer offered me a 05 plate A8 3.0 TDi Quattro with 10k miles and loads of extras for £29k this week (on forecourt for £33k). If you got £27500 for your 04 it sounds like I was offered a good deal after all!

Even if that is an old nose it is still cheap. Was it some weird colour combo? However, every A8, practically, is a 3.0Tdi because the perception is that that is the low depreciation model....perhaps that will not prove to be the case with so many 3.0Tdi's about.

We ran a 4.2 V8 Quattro (51 plate) for 9 months and 30k miles - top vehicle, although as it was on 20's the tyre bill was a little harsh!!

Thankfully I'm just on 19" but still probably not cheap.
