I've been thinking about lowering my Golf (Mk4 TDI130) just with Eibach 30mm Pro springs but have been informed that I'm going to have a nightmare with rear tyre wear.

Can folks confirm/deny/offer tips on this ?

Can't really see how a small (30mm) drop is going to make tyre wear a nightmare, it may be a little worse as there may be a little more negative camber on the backs but it shouldn't be too bad, 30mm is only like having a couple of fat mates in the back.
If your doing just springs you'll probably accelerate shock absorber wear, but again not by an amount that I would worry about, I imagine it's just mainly for looks anyway and not track work so I'd go for it.

Have a look on.......

Wont be a great ride with just spring change & stock wallowamatic shocks, tyre wear should be unaffected- TTs & S3s can get it if only lowered & modded doobery wotsits are not used, as they do get a fair bit of neggy then.

I had a GT TDI Mk 4 with these springs on, and had to replace the rear axle bushes twice.. Maybe I was just un-lucky - I don't know but, my advice would be to look at maybe some Anni springs and shocks from VW? Or even just some 150 springs, I understand they sit a little lower.

You may need adjustable rear tie bars to get back to the factory geo but quite a few places sell them. Forge, ECS and some other should be able to sort you out.

This may be total bollox but I know it applies to S3s etc and think it's the same problem for the 2WD cars
