A3 3.2 definitely has it, it's in the owners manual, but I think only the A3s with 'Quattro' have this - is the GTI 4wd?

Anyway procedure is put into 'S' or manual mode, switch off 'ESP' (traction control), press down the brake pedal (left foot) quite hard and floor the throttle - it is then electronically limited at around 3000rpm until you 'dump' the brake (as if it were a clutch), there is a split second delay and then it will launch - keep the throttle pinned to the floor and it will give a quick, fuss-free take off and acceleration.

Worked well in the R32 DSG that I test drove the other week.. Salesman wasn't quite sure how to engage it.. so we had a play!

Would this invalidate the warranty if you killed the transmision?

Doubt it as it clearly tells you how to do it in the manual, with no disclaimer.

Yes, it definitely work on the GTi DSG. You have to be committed - any let up on the throttle in the early stages just lights up the front tyres.
