What he said!
30 mpg and a 3.2 litre V6 don't go together at all.
Some R32 users doing steady motorway mileage at or below the speed limit can achieve 30+ mpg but 26 is more realistic for an average journey. I seem to average 22 or less, but that's not for commuting every day or on busy minor roads

Drive like a saint and I averaged 42mpg over 75miles (clock started once the car was warm, they are terrible on short journeys!) you can definately average 31 but dont kid yourself you never will!! Its just WAY too tempting to be bad and when you are... sub 10mpg has been achieved as an average over 250miles!! I've heard the demo cars can get down to 6.7 on short runs but I got an average of 9.7 driving accross the country!

And my bet is that once you own it, mpg will be the last thing you'll be worrying about
Unfortunately not! The noise is just soo good (especially with the back seats folded down -Yes I know I'm sad but try before you mock- ) that all I worried about was the £700-800 I was spending a month in fuel! That was doing about 1500miles per month. Alot of money for fuel... but worth every penny if you can afford it. I can't.
Not a R32, but we have just bought a Edition 30 GTI and we are having trouble averaging 25mpg. We do a 5-10 mile commute between Wimbledon and Richmond each day.
I was hoping for 30mpg return, but its just not possible.
However, you will soon find that driving one of these hot golfs soon make up for it.
Go for it i say.
Save a diesel for later life when petrol cars will be too heavily taxed.

was the £700-800 I was spending a month in fuel! That was doing about 1500miles per month.
That's about 7 mpg mate.
I wish that were true and fuel was that cheap but over a month I've been averaging 11-13mpg and 3-4 fill ups per week (more than 3 but never quite 4 in one week) at a cost of £50-55 per tank. Fuel recipts month one were £700, 2nd month nearer £800!
