Skrew you guys. Thats the last time I give approximates on a forum!! Plus the misfortune of driving on B roads all the time (there are advantages too) is that actually my most frequented garage charges 102.9p (97ron) I've never used low octane stuff. surely at 90p per litre it would not be £50-55 to fill a tank, and no I dont run it down till I'm burning oxygen!
Point I was making was if you enjoy your driving (which hopefully you do if your considering an R32 otherwise you could save yourself alot of dosh and buy a 1.4) anything which struggles to achieve 150miles max to a £50+ tank is not cheap to run.
Now stop nit picking my figures!
Ben

I hired a car the other day to get to london, and it turned out to be a 1.6 Focus Zetec. Now, it did 400 miles to a tank that cost 50 quid. That was at cruising motorway speed. If I had done the same journey in the .:R, I reckon I would have got around 300-320 miles to the same tank of fuel.
Surely there's no point owning a 1.6, just for that extra 80 miles/tank? Fun value alone in the .:R makes up for that!
The driving position sucked too (even with all the adjustments)- if the Focus ST is anything similar, I'm so glad I got an .:R

Main problem with the ST is the seat is a bit on the high side. Apart from that it's fine (and I'm a fussy bugger).
Oh and compared to the massively uncomfortable Pug 307, even the cooking Focus is a joy.

Having had one of these on loan for three days, I can vouch for the fact that if you are always giving it the full monty, single figure MPG is very much a distinct possibily
Ye gods, you must get through some tyres Ben?
