Leon Cup-R Boost Problem?

My mates got a 04 plate Leon Cupra R, and it keeps loosing boost.
Iam thinking it needs the boost valve changing, the plastic ones are very poor arent they?
Which valve is best for performance and cost? Dont want a dump valve!
Any advice wellcome.
